About the only powder HE detergent I can find in this local area is TideHE, Charlie's, and a few other very small brands I've never heard of or used.
I just stopped at Dollar General Store this morning and looked at the detergents while there and read the FAB box. It can be used in front-loaders or regular top loaders now (at least the version that I bought can be).

I just tried some and it seems to work well. Its fairly inexpensive too, $2.50 for a box that should do about 60 loads in a front-loader. My washer is a Fisher Paykel GWL15 but I have to use HE detergent in it, and powder is all I'll put in it now.

Its great to have another choice!

Fab has been "HE compatible" for a long time. And I have found that it performs as well as most any other brand. However, without enzymes, there are a few times when one must be especially careful about stains. But most stains need pretreating anyway, so...

Since Fab is now a Phoneix Brands product not sure how it performs - my local dollar stores still have the older Colgate Palmolive stock. But for some reason only in Rain Forest scent.

I was recently in Tampa and the local Publix had the new Fab powder. I noted that the box is smaller than the traditional 40 load size, and I don't know if the formula has changed.

In the meantime, I'll continue to stock up on the Colgate stuff as long as it's available.

this is good info......

I'm going to have to check around and see if I can find some of the Colgate-Pal manufactured FAB too. that way I can compare the ingredience and see if any significant difference
with it and the Phoenix FAB. So far I'm pretty happy with it
and my wife seems to like it too.
Good info.
