Anyone on here use a self-cleaning/scooping/washing litter box? I had a "Litter Free" self washing box 20 years ago. Worked fine for a year til it clogged and I had to remove it in a hurry but when I was able to clean it out and set it back up it wouldn't work at all so it was trashed. I don't want the Cat Genie that's out now although I have the plumbing in place for it left from the previous one. I'm considering one of the SmartScoop electronic boxes. I'm tired of scooping and Tony isn't able to squat down anymore due to his leg issue. I used to have a cat that could use the toilet and I believe my Samson could do it but his two sisters not so much.

CatGenie

I had the CatGenie for a while. The cartridges are expensive but it washed and disposed of all of my cat's "presents" without a problem. I stopped using it because my Maine Coon got to large for it and refused to go inside anymore. The only cons are if you have multiple cats and set it to clean after each use, it takes about 15 mins or so.

I had one...

I had the one that had the rake that swept across the litter and scooped it into a covered container at the end. I can't remember what it was called. It worked well when the clumps were well formed. What happened to me is as my cat got bigger the liquid volume increased. It didn't always clump in time for the rake to come across. Sometimes the rake was a clumped up mess. The model I had did not have an option to increase the amount of time before it cleaned instelf. I suspect if you have small cats it would work well.

Yeah, one of my 3 cats makes bricks when it pees. I've been watching videos on youtube and reading reviews and all of them have pros and cons. My boy cat may be scared of an auto litter box, he's super skiddish anyway, but he's also the most picky when it comes to a clean box.
