Fellow enthusiasts, please elaborate on this 2 year old Maytag dishwasher

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

It's a KA KDTE254ESS1. Over the years I've had 5 dishwashers and this is by far the best, even beating out my GE 2400 from the '80s.  Love that both the racks are on ball bearing glides and find the 3rd rack pretty useful too.  I clean the filter monthly roughly, never too much stuff there. I do find performance suffers a bit if I run out of rinse aid. I do keep my water HOT, set as high as the heater will allow, but the DW uses such a small amount of water that after the first rinse the water has cooled down, I have a long run to the kitchen about 30'+ so if I think of it while it's running I will turn on the faucet and run some hot water. I do use the Sani rinse option but never use heated drying, if I open it right after the cycle ends the dishes flash dry, but mostly I just unload in the AM when I get up, often the interior is still a little warm.

Hope you have similar success with your Maytag

I have a Maytag that I got in 2019, with that wash system. It cleans very well.
I only use the Auto cycle, or sometimes Normal. I don't use the extra heat, heat dry, or any options... Just the Auto button. And it usually takes 1h20 minutes approximately, and everything comes out clean.

Here is a video of the inside wash action (not my video)

I’ve recorded mine on the inside and it’s comparable to a powerclean, the upper wash arm is identical to the direct feed powercleans, the jets are thinner. Did you ever use rinse aid or too much detergent? When it ran fine things came out looking expensive, I don’t think I ever pulled a dirty dish out of it since we’ve owned it. The old spray arm from our jetclean point voyager will be going into my powerclean, the cause the jets are thinner it’ll spin much faster increasing performance due to the increased flow of water in the powerclean compared to the slightly weaker feed on the point voyagers. There is a video of this on YouTube that a member here posted with the old arm compared to the new one. It spins significantly quicker with the upper Maytag arm. The upper arm will now then spin just as quick as the stainless lower one in the PC. I’m wondering if the rack will also fit too because it’s the exact one they used in the Whirlpool Gold and ultrawash PC models, the one with arches in it. We will have to see…keeping these old racks anyways they are in grade A condition still.
