Ever since I read this article I have been thinking about cars that drive themselves, or the ones that are coming in the near future. My neighbors just purchased a new Acura that not only maintains vehicle speed by monitoring the car ahead but also keeps the vehicle centered in the lane. Being an old man, I'd be a little scared of riding in a car on an LA freeway while the driver was reading the newspaper. Technology seems to be moving so fast. (I hope this post is not out of place here)

I've seen people doing all sorts of things while behind the wheel (I hate to say driving, that is open to conjecture when you're really not actually driving), but one of the worst has to be the guy on I-35 in Dallas who was tying his necktie using both hands while doing 55 mph in morning traffic . . .

this just goes without saying....the more stupid people get, the more smarter their homes, cars, and personal equipment has to be...

I am game for rear camera and bumber sensors on a car......but THAT it parks itself...NO...if you can't parallel park a car, you should not even have a license....and last I remember, it was a requirement to pass a driving test!

and what about when this technology malfunctions?......your driving down the highway at 65MPH...and the car decides to spin the wheel to the left....Who is at fault?.....and we can predict the lawsuits already....

some of these items out there that claim to make life easier.....only goes to show how stupid the person is who owns it!......

you know, with enough accidents caused by drivers texting, it will hit a point of raising your car insurance rates just for owning a Smart Phone!.....just like owning certain dogs/animals, trampolines, and pools increase your home owners insurance rates...

most phones have GPS on them......and you mean to tell me, there is not the knowledge to install/create a sensor in there that determines that a phone is travelling at 50MPH, and stop it from being able to send/receive texts?.....granted you could only be the passenger, and wanting to text.....what's more important, THAT message, or someones life, including your own!

I have a GPS in my Jeep, that only allows 'touch screen' operations while the vehicle is in PARK.....when in motion, Voice Command only!

I once saw a guy using a laptop computer while driving. He had it balancing on the steering wheel hub while typing. He was also going about 80mpg while doing this.

Then there was a guy who was having an argument with his wife on his cell phone while driving on the freeway. He was so engrossed in yelling at her he forgot to watch where he was going and never saw the 18 wheeler stopped in the road ahead of him. His wife said on the news that he was yelling at her and the connection just went "sorta dead". The connection wasn't the only thing that died.
