Wow. Was that KDS model actually sold as a combination electric sink, or was this a custom adaptation of the dishwasher? The gap in the cabinets appears to be the standard 48" gap that existed in many pre-war (and some post-war) homes, which allowed the installation of combination DW/sink units without costly remodeling, since drain and water supply lines were already in place. To my eye, the color of the DW front does not exactly match the cabinet sink doors, which makes me wonder if this was a kit or after-market modification to adapt a KDS DW to an existing 48" cabinetry gap.
