Well this was just as good as a Christmas present finding this today for $7.98. I don't think the bag is the original though because it says "top fill" but this one has the tube on the bottom with the rolling ring. It works fine but it is extremely noisy and therefore won't be getting much of any use in the Petek household. It's ok for a collection I guess but I like the older convertible models way better with the rounded metal base.

Cool vacuum...looks like it's in good shape! Those 1-speed and "Power Surge" Convertibles were significantly louder than their previous counterparts; I prefer the earlier metal-bodied version myself but these sure are powerful!

The headlight lens appears to be a replacement as well; the original would say "Convertible" on it.

Looks like an early 80's model, great shape. Those were well made. I'm curious about the Kirby behind it too.
P.S. Hoovers are notorious for being noisy. But they are good machines otherwise.

Right after I took that picture and moved the vac something got caught and the machine started whining and burning rubber LOL.. found a small rock lodged up under the belt near the fan..what a stink..but the belt survived and the fan didn't get damaged. whew. Jeff will know the color and date, it's a chocolate brown?

Knitwits.. that's my Kirby G3, self propelled. Nice vac but I don't care for it as much as the Heritage Legend II which even though not self propelled seems to be easier to navigate around with. The G3's just a tad too ungainly and it is slightly more noisy than the other Kirbys I have but it does a great job on carpets like all the Kirbys do.

Jeff will know....

Well maybe... thats a middle-late 80's model, BOL at that.
Its loud because the agitator probably needs a greaseing.
Looks to be in good shape though!

Thanks Jeff..
I took another look, the roller brush seemed fine and free then I noticed that one of the little metal clips that holds the base plate on was loose and not staying in position so I bent it down a little to hold the plate tight and it made quite a difference, still a loud machine, because I tried it without the belt attached, but doesn't have that rattly sort of sound now. You have to wonder if that's why someone ditched it, a loose bottom plate making noise and/or the rock inside and they didn't even bother to open the bottom, because it is in very good cosmetic condition and works well.
