new hose clamps

on faucet hook up. drips a little around the mouth where faucet hooks on but oh well, it's 40 years old!

wood top cleaned up very nicely! have not used linseed oil yet but am going to.

here it is with some

dishes in it. never had a dishwashers where the plates go in the top!

bottom rack has one obvious place in the front where it is rusted badly. i'll touch it up with some appliance epoxy. will also touch up the other minor areas as well.

this machine will not get much use so i'm not too worried.

this pic shows some soapy

main wash water in it to illustrate the fill level. the fill times on this machine are between 1 1/2 and 3 min.! main wash is a 2 1/2 min fill. as said i have got to get the overflow switch working.

a full cycle is:

wash/rinse 5 min.
rinse 1 min.
main wash 9 min
rinse 3 1/2 min.
rinse 5 min.
dry 20 min.

drains are 1 min to 1 1/2 min long
fills are 1 1/2 to 3 min long!
pauses are 45 sec. to 1 min between phases.

so this one is pretty much finished

and i wanted to add it to this thread instead of posting a new one. gonna fine tune this machine a bit, clean it up some more, and actually use it for awhile!

oh i didn't mention that it has the fastest spray arm rotation i have ever seen. between 3 and 4 revolutions per second! i had to quickly open the door to believe it! that spray arm really moves! and it takes about 10 seconds after pump staerts for it to get up to that speed!

seems like these old 72 maytags were really built well! it's 40 years old and no leaks and i can even still get a seal for it! what more could i ask for 20 bucks!

i like it!

Wow, sure looks like you made quite a find.

From what I've read on this forum, this dishwasher is held in very high regard, so I guess you'll be very pleased with it.
I also like that nice wood top it has.

If people used these in "mobile homes" you'd probably just about need to make yourself mobile for a while to escape the noise, and probably everyone else in the vicinity would also.
"Whats that sound John?"
Distant rumbling...
"Thats the Jonson's Maytag Reverse Rack draining. Maybe we should buy them something quieter, so we can get some sleep at night!"

Orignal MT DD RR DW

Cool Peter glad you got it working, these early MT DWs were difficult to work on, in the case of the built-ins you had to remover the DW from under the counter to access the pump [ kind of like a new Bosch or Asko or Meile LOL ] and on the portable you still have the cabinet to deal with. I would be careful getting any lubricant on the hose connections as a frequent problem MT had on these early DD RR machines was the hoses would BLOW off the pump outlets and cause a nice flood as the machine would go through the rest of the cycle and dump all the water on the floor, at least with a portable you will usually spot the leak instantly LOL.
