Frigidaire Affinity doesn't spin.

My 1 year and 11 months Electrolux Eco Turbo (Frigidaire Affinity) wont to spin, it downs't matter the cicle or load. I made a video to show the problem: the washer starts to drain and but the tub don't move for any direction. After 4 minutes the machine start the final balance and stops at 6 minutes.
The Electrolux repair man call me today, he finded the problem: Control Board and Door Lock: I will spend more than $300,00 to reapair a Expensive machine!!

Your machine will go to the Guinness book of records as the machine tha had more troubles.

Starting by the "This f***ing machine doesnt spin a single heavy towel", than the "The Electrolux logo faded after my maid scrubbed it using the green side of a scotch brite", than "my machine doesn't clean heavily soiled garments if I fill it with cold water and use a short cycle". Than "This POS doesn't rinse properly if I use 3 scoops of regular Tide to wash two pairs of socks".

Now FINALLY you have a REAL trouble. YAY!! That's what you wanted! Now you can put a bomb inside it and buy your loved Duet.

After a few years hearing your complaints, finally something "touchable". Well darling, it's out of warranty... how many years without REAL troubles? 2? 3?

Not considering the things you think are troubles, but are normal to any HE front loader (except the new american Electrolux)

it's a machine and like all the machines, someday it's going to fail. Replace the board and smile.

or...

buy a vintage Brastemp (Lady Kenmore)

or...

buy an Electrolux LE750. that machine is a monster! you can put stones inside it and it won't feel anything

By the way... Some things I always told you:

HE front loaders usually take ages to balance a load before spin. (Including your loved duet)
HE front loaders won't rinse properly if you use regular detergents. specially if you see the suds comming our of the dispenser. Also won't clean if you reduce too much the dose of a regular detergent to avoid the suds. (We have three brands of HE detergents in Brazil. Ariel Liquid, Ariel ECOmax and Ariel Oxyrings)
HE front loaders won't clean very dirty jeans if you select hand wash cycle and cold water.
It's possible to install the Affinity in a cold water pipe only, but it's performance will be veeeeeeeeeeery reduced.

About the board... It can be a bug... Before you blaim the 5th generation of Mr Ruy Hirschheimer's family, try to to that procedure I told you many summers ago: Unplug the board and let it "breath" for a few hours.

And the most important:

If you have the option to choose between a brand new HE and a vintage machine, choose the vintage, old, obsolete, non efficient, slow spin machine.

I think 99.999999999% of the members here have the same opinion.

Oh Thomas, this is so offensive.. You can't answer using any sarcasm??

I will repair my Electrolux and use for some years along... by the way: that's a premium washer and the using life is more than 10 years: you said this when I bought! But, I Made some critic on "Reclame Aqui", I will sujest to electrolux pay the control board and I pay the service! Little justice..

And it's good for you know... you never believe in me when I said about Eco's trouble!! Now (like you said) it's a real and expensive problem!!

for all your, budies of this great community, i just need to say that this kind of fight between this 2 comes from ages. Both are my friends and they're good people anyway (Brastemp guy is my closer friend!)
Brastemp (named Edu) is a defender of brastemp (whirlpool) and Thomas is a defender of electrolux.
But i need to say that Duet and Affinity are the 2 most TOL washers here in Brazil, but, a Duet costs 3 times more than an Affinity!!
But, im my opinion, no one of them are great washers, couse the reality here in Brazil is that no one home have central wather heating here, and we don't have HE detergents.... all of them needs at least 30 minuts to 1 hour of soak to act in the dirty clothes and get them cleam (even Ariel Liquid, Ariel ECOmax and Ariel Oxyrings)
Ah, nothing that u'll say will change my opinion Mr Thomas....

HE = any detergent that are formulated to be used in machines that use "a tablespoon" of water.
The three versions are designed to work ok in HE machines as they are low suds (ECOmax is NO SUDS AT ALL)

Nothing is mentioned about HE detergents X regular detergents and wash times.

absolutely not Thomas...... definitely there's no HE detergents in Brazil, and even less a no suds one.....

These detergents you mencioned can be considered the "regular" in USA, our other brands makes completely out of control suds...... a teaspoon of one of our commun brands of detergent can make a cascade of suds in a cabrio for exemple.... brazilian people thinks thas the suds that cleans the clothes, so the manufacturers makes them do as much suds as they can!!!

ah, no one washer uses "a tablespoon" of water, they need at least water enough to be recirculated by the pumps

****** a question for an american, if any one reads this post!!.... if i put a tablespoon of TIDE HE in the dishwasher, it will make as suds as when people put regular soap in it? or it won't make any suds like a true dishwasher soap??

I don't know about HE, but I've used a splash of Tide in a dishwasher before. It didn't push suds out the door like when a friend of mine used a squirt of Dawn!

Interesting theory... I've never tried it before...

Tonight I'll try a cycle using a spoon of Ariel Ecomax.

By the way, I use the three versions of Ariel in my HE machine and it makes absolutelly no suds and the rinse is perfect without using extra rinse, while the other version "Oxybarras" suds lock the Affinity.
