Does anybody happen to have or have had a Frigidaire countertop microwave from the early to mid 80's? I remember my school had one, and that thing was wonderful, it had two knobs, one for defrost or high the other was a 30 minute timer. That thing suffered lots of abuse, and got accidentally ran empty quite often due to lazy students, one time for 15 minutes!!! It also had a foil fire in it once, nothing could kill that thing. They finally got rid of it for newer models but I would love to find or see a pic of that particular model.

Frigidaire Microwave

That sounds like the one I left at my last house. It's still being used every day.I bought it about 1985. It had two controls and came with a big book of instructions. Mine said it was made by Frigidaire in Dayton Ohio. It has a charcoal finish (not woodtone) and is VERY VERY heavy. It was a middle of the line model at the time but I sure have gotten my moneys' worth from the investment.

If you would like I will take a picture the next time I am at the house. I kept my grandmother's Frigidaire microwave that is very similar. It's sitting in my garage. I think it is a couple of years newer but very similar to mine. Funny thing is that the new Stainless Steel built-in Whirlpool Microwave that I have in this new house has had to be repaired within the first year of use and it was a top of the line model.
