Frigidaire WOES!!!

Hi all,Mark here from St. Louis. Hoping to get some ideas as to what I am doing wrong with my 65 Roller-matic (single speed) that i'm finally getting put back together. The problem is the brake will not engage once the spin cycle stops. The tub takes forever to wind down to a complete stop. I have tried adjusting the clutch/spin wheel assembly to the point where i can't push up the clutch/spin wheel assembly enough to get the clearance needed to turn the adjusting nut at the bottom of the assembly. I have taken the assembly apart 3 times now to make sure that i have everything put together according to the Frigidaire repair manual and I'm at a complete loss as to what I've missed or doing wrong. Any of the Frigidaire experts out there have any ideas? Thanks for the help guys, you're the best.

I think you have to tighten the nut more that pushes up on the roller to the brake pad lining. That is the deal with my machines, however mine is a 1969 and I don't mind the "Spray rinse" generated by not braking.

Thanks for the info steve, Will see if I can get the nut tighter. I'm usually fairly mechanically inclined but this really has me stumped. My wife isn't happy either that her favorite machine has been "out of commission" for 4 months now and she's getting a little "testy". lol

I got it!

Finally figured out what the problem was with the spin brake not engaging. The brass/bronze bushing that the spin wheel rides up and down on was pushed up above the center of the spin wheel housing approx. 1/8". Just enough to keep the spin wheel brake from fully engaging. Happy dance!!
