A customer dropped off a Kenmore front loader made by Frigidaire. It has the square door and a dial with pushbuttons and lights that show the spin speeds, opptions and that the unit is on. It washes, drains and rinses but does not spin.Any idea on what could be the cause?? i'm thinnking it's the mother board.Anyone had any experience in repairing these and what could cause this please let me know.Maholo and Aloha

Does the door lock? I would think it's the door lock assembly.
When it's in the spin portion of the cycle and you stop the machine, does the door open right away? If the wax motor in the assembly is good, it will take a min or 2 for the door to open. There is also a diagnostic sequence, which you should find in the paperwork attached to the inner left wall of the machine.

If I don't close the door securely before starting, and then push Start, I get a loud buzzing noise which I guess is an alarm that the door was not securely closed. I just open it and reclose it, being sure I push it firmly all the way, and push Start again. That always fixes the problem.

That said, if there is a defect in the door assembly, you might not get the buzzer alarm and the machine would not start in that case.

I first ran the unit with no clothes, then I put in some sheets and pillow cases. Both cycles ran well but no spin. The door locks fine and I was surprised on how quiet this unit is.It tumbles fine with the tub reversing in 15 second intervals and the timer advances fine.Everything is o.k with no leaks.Just no spin and no tumble during the spin cycles.I've seen but never used one of these models and was not that thrilled with the square door design they have because of the negative experiences (leaked like a sive) I,myself had with the older side swing door Westinghouse Laundromat models from the mid 60's that had that old style oval window. The owner wants a diagnosis. His renter replaced this with another model prior to asking permission. If the mother board is bad,I'm sure that he won't want service because it's out of waranty. If that's the case,he'll trash it and I'll probably repair and keep it.If it's something less severe,,he might want some cash for it.I never give more than $50 to customer's for used washers or other major appliances.

Another couple of notes on these units are the water level issue. This one uses less than the L.G.models I've had. There was no visible water splashing around and no suds. I added two gallons and it worked better.Today,I'm going to look at the area under the lid and see if the water level can be adjusted.
The dispenser seams to be improved. No residue water was visible and it uses solinoids instead of that godoffle gear assembly between the timer and dispensers that always failed after moderate use.
