Don't Blame Whirlpool

Circa 2001,
GE, Whirlpool, Frigidaire sat before Congress, and BEGGED them to do something about the dumpling of Samsung and LG products on our market @ below the cost of manufacture with no help at All.

Each and Everyone of you that has bought the Sammies and LowGrades are to blame for the mess we are in.

Period,

Hope this Helps,

......

Not sure how I feel about this....
GE really really REALLY REALLY doesn't want Appliances anymore.
Which means.....it'll probably be dumped off on a Chinese firm or an investment group, which will then kick it around, part it out, etc.....
I'm not so optimistic.
At least Electrolux was a reputable appliance maker :/

Spot On, My fellow American...

JohnB300m>>

Could not agree more.

So what is the answer??

I don't know...but I have a feeling that some of us have forgotten that the Pen IS Mightier than the Sword.

We all love to have a forum to be able to talk to each other, cuss, and discuss agenda...but are we shorting oursevles??

You bet...

Tell someone that it should matter to...

If everyone penned a letter to their reprentatives on the State and Federal Level...

Can you imagine the shear volume of mail, and the overwhelming of the system>>??

That was Reagan's Magic Bullet....even his own people hated when he didn't get his way...he went to the American public, and told them to do the same.
Whether you liked the man or not...he knew how to conduct business.

Hope this Helps,

LOL

Sorry, I couldn't get a more accurate headline together.
And I don't want to get into politics.

But, first, no manufacturer will ever sell any product that has ever existed below its production price. That is just straight up economical BS.

Second, no, we are not to blame. If a market chooses a way to go, logicly a majority wants to go that way, because any somewhat free market space will always produce more profits for those who suite the market.
And, for your matter, EVERYBODY is to blame cause ANYBODY alive today who just has been in a first world country bought at least 1 product containing a component made somewhere in Asia.

And, third and last, I wouldn't give a true 100% honor to any producer of white goods.
Here in Europe, we are now down to 7 "major" brands: Miele, BSH, E-Lux, Whirlpool, Candy&#92Hoover, Gorenje and Acrelik (not sure about the spelling, the ones that make Beko, Blomberg and Co.).
And Whirlpool recently bought up Hotpoint&#92Indesit. Though they do have some kind producr hybrid design going (they launched some crossed WD combos with mixed parts), a whole share of diversity got whiped of the market.
Oh, and if I do remember right, our WP washer is mostly made in China, as well.

It's too bad

that the powers that BE at GE don't have any type of fascination with appliances like members here. I guess appliances are so horrendously minor compared to other things they build.

Actually they do

"that the powers that BE at GE don't have any type of fascination with appliances like members here. I guess appliances are so horrendously minor compared to other things they build."

Actually the reason is not high enough ROI. Gotta keep shareholders happa ya know.

IPO?

If there's any evidence of the ingenuity and prowess that still exists at GE Appliances, it's in their products released in the past few years.

They have washers that are naturally higher, so you don't have to buy pedestals. Their cycles will work out the best programming for certain stains.

Their dishwashers will reverse their wash arms, and they brought to market the bottle jets first. Steam is a standard feature on all but the BOL.

The unique and well priced "GE Artistry" series.

Reveal LED bulbs that have a superior color (IMO).

They've done a lot of fantastic stuff...and GEA is very profitable. Over $1B last year...................

If allowed to be slightly optimisitic, maybe they'll spin off the Appliances division on its own?
BUT....does that then make it a takeover target?

Maybe Walgreen's and CVS will buy GE.   They would have tons of showrooms.   There is no way they plan to keep 2 drugstores on every corner.  Art

Sorry I thought my post was in the wrong  place. We have 2 threads going on this topic.   -A

6 day old News, but...

To Wallstreet and investors as of Monday of this week,

GE announced that it is still actively seeking a suitor for the appliance division.

Sad, but True,
