My friend has the generation 1 Frigidaire Front load washer (I think those were 3.1 or 2.8 Cubic ft depending on whos measurement was used) with a matching dryer stacked on top. Well the start knob broke off and they had been using pliers to turn the start switch instead of asking me to look at it. Of course they could have just moved one of the other knobs onto the start knob.... but that's another story. Anyway the knob broke off. So went to replace it with a momentary contact switch. But unfortunately. the timer starts but the dryer motor does not start.
Is it possible the switch got stuck in the start position burning out something on the motor? Is there something I'm forgetting about the start switch? I have not done this in a while.
Thanks in advance,
paul
