Purring Like a Wheelwriter

I took the outer cover off, placed a few drops of oil on the back of the carrier mother, and she's working perfectly!

What's the web address of the Selectric group. I have a beautiful green small model that doesn't power on. I'd like to get it going one of these days so I may as well start researching.

YAY! Persistence wins agains, Jim. Glad it's working now. I wish my problem was that simple; my return is stuck and if left on, the motor burning smell occurs, after a few minutes.

The key tops pop off just like they do on the Model M keyboards; took them all off and soaked them in hot water, dish soap, and a little bleach. I cleaned the case with 409. It had a metal sticker that said it was originally property of ND Department of Corrections.

Pete, you might try popping the cover first, grasping the belt from the motor and rocking back and forth to try to "unstick" things. You could also pop the belt entirely and verify if the motor is running (or shot). I've also seen power switches go bad on Selectrics... -Cory

How does the Wheelwriter feel typing on it? Does it feel much different to you. My fastest typing has always been on the Selectric I. I suppose different people have different preferences. Like Cory mentioned above I never cared for machines where there's a bit of a lag.
After I posted those above saying it was my last.. I just noticed I had an office Panasonic electronic hidden in the corner which I never really tried out, along the lines of the Wheelwriter of the day.

I like the feel of the Wheelwriter, I've never really noticed any lag, but to each his own. I used a Panasonic electronic when I worked in a government office in the early 80's, it had a micro cassette drive to save documents on. I had a word processing typewriter with a black and white screen, it was a nice machine but the monitor went out on it.
