I've become real interested in getting a Suds Saver washer. I understand that Maytag and Whirlpool/Kenmore made them, and maybe there are others too.

I think I'd like to find the most modern, or latest production, Maytag Suds Saver. What would be some good model numbers to look for? or production years, etc. I'm not sure exactly how to identify these machines other than it saying Suds Saver on the control panel.

Whirlpool would be my next choice. What would be a good
year(s) for them?

Any advice is much appreciated.

Maytag had suds-saver models available up through the late 90's. Since I'm partial to the older newton drive transmission, I would personally purchase one from early 1986 and previous years. Be forewarned though that suds savers models have additional parts which means more stuff to go wrong in the long run.

I believe the Maytag sudsavers went up to the mid to late 90's with the LAW series , only they were referred to as 'water savers'. (LAW2400AAE, LAW2401AAE & LAW9406AAE/L) These were the series with the sloped plastic console.

Mu best friend's parents still have and use a Maytag suds saver from the early 80's. Her mom uses a tub of water allllll day long! She starts with her whites and works her way to her husband's muddy overalls. They live on a farm and generate massive amounts of laundry! It's a miracle her washer is still working!

To quote the those old Maytag commercials, "That's a Maytag for you."

All hail to the Newton drive transmission!!!!
