Picked this up earlier in the week. After a good cleaning, made my first cup of coffee. Used a paper filter in the percolator basket and the coffee came out great.

Agreed

I don't even bother with Goodwill around here anymore.  All of their stuff appears to have been gathered up from the curb.

I found a nice Jet-O-Mat percolator at Savers several months ago, but it was nearly twice the price of that Cory.

I did find a nice original version Norelco Dial-A-Brew about 3 years ago @ Bethesda Thrift Shop for $4.99+tax=$5.26.  Bev uses it as her daily driver, and she said she's never had such great coffee from any previous coffemaker she's used.  We have a 2nd one in storage that we found at a church rummage sale about a year later.  The link is to Bethesda's info page.

This past spring, Bev's best friend did find us a nearly mint avocado Mirro-Matic Whiz Grid @ our local Goodwill.  She got it for $5, but that was/is the the only decent item found there for quite some time.  I 2nd your opinion Ralph.

My parents got a pre-Dial-a-Brew Norelco in the early 70's.  It made great coffee compared to the Corning Electromatic percolator it replaced.  I always wondered about the design of the basket lid on those models.  Often during the brewing process, more water would land in the lid than it could accommodate, and it would end up draining down the center hole in the basket assembly, which served to weaken the brew strength.

Our Norelco makes an excellent pot of coffee every time.  The only problem is that my wife doesn't wash the pot & basket as often as they should be.  When it goes in the dw, it really makes a huge difference, all the oil residue is gone.  I've never seen a pre Dial-A-Brew Norelco.  The plug does get quite warm though because it draws 1500 watts.
