Guess what Bobby got this weekend???

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

It's bigger than a breadbox...

The picture isn't much (on purpose?) but I'd guess a recent model maytag washer (LAT series?) as I don't see a fold across the lower front of the panel... Don't be such a tease, Bobby!

OK, OK. I see a pic of a 12 series Tag on Craigslist. Kind of fuzzy, but it looks like an almond 712. I call the guy, and he says it belonged to an old lady who only washed once a month, blah, blah, blah. I go up to the boonies of northern Massachusetts to a place right out of Deliverance. The guy turned out to be very nice, and even restored old player pianos. Behind one of the pianos was this A712, in MINT condition! He tried to move it out behind the piano and I yelled at him to stop. I didn't want one single scratch on it. I really think the old lady must have kept it in shrink wrap.

The tub gleams. No stains, no dulling or scratches. Only a bit of lint on the lid switch button. Bleach dispenser and lint filter spotless.

I bought one of these brand new in 1991. I was not "tuned in" to the changes at Maytag at the time and was shocked when I realized the tranny was now an "orbital" type and I did not care for the short, fast stroke of the agitator.
At first I was going to return it, but finally got used to it and kept it untill I moved to Mobile, AL. for a short time in 2000.(I had also purchased a new 1997 FrigEMore and was not using it often) I then sold it (it still looked like brand new) to a friend there who still uses it and cherishes it.
17 years old now, and yet to have a single repair.

My only complaint was that damned 90 second rinse. If you had a full load and were using "Extra Large" water level the load would not even have a chance to roll-over one time before the "rinse" was over!
I tended to use the "Large" water level a lot just to assure everything got at least one roll-over.

You have found a great machine and I'm sure you will really enjoy it!
Congratulations!

Isn't that machine the 'newer' version with the white agitator and orbital drive?

Bobby:

What is the approx. manufacture date of your new FAHBULOUS treasure?

Great find Bobby!! I am really happy for you. That looks like a keeper for sure. Love that turquoise agitator.
