In and among the preparations for the move and the insanity of work, Ross reminded me that I hadn't actually announced the fact that Will, Frank and I will, in fact, be moving to San Francisco. Will moves the weekend of the 8th of September, and I move the weekend of the 28th. I apologize for the heretofore grapevine communiqué.
This decision comes on the heels of a unique opportunity for Will and me to relocate, and since the opportunity for Will to transfer was rare--and the timing was pretty okay in terms of my job--we decided to go with it. Frank, world traveler that he is, is happily able to adapt to this.
So, yes--this is the reason that I've been thinning my collection down to the ones I absolutely want to keep, and I've been shuffling others. We're not getting rid of the house here in Tucson, so some of the appliance kids can stay. However, some had to scoot, because it was becoming nearly impossible to skirt the machines in order to get to smaller items in the back of the sheds. (I know, I know, that actually sounds ideal, but you'd be surprised when you factor-in appliance non-aficionados.)
Unfortunately, I won't have the ability to collect appliances much bigger than the occasional table-fan or toaster in San Francisco (maybe I should branch-out into Corelle?), but I plan to continue to come back to Tucson...and, of course, to live vicariously through all of you, as I do now, with your fantastic finds and fun pics.
I'd like to thank all of you for a wonderful life while in Tucson, especially my close friends here. I can't believe how blessed I've been to get to share in your lives, and at the incredible things we've been able to experience. While I'm excited about the move, I know that life will not be the same, and there is no replacement for you.
I'd also like to express my gratitude to all of you who came to the Tucson Wash-Ins and shared with us your wonderful, dynamic, funny, knowledgeable, and fantastic selves. I really treasure the memories we've made.
