<span style="font-size: 14pt; color: #008000;">I "fixed up" several of these Whirlpools for resale. They were always among my favorites, although they weren't the favorite of the store's. That timer that selected everything and had a zillion wires on it was very pricey to replace under the 90-day warranty. Most Lady Kenmores with similar timers were taboo. A Kenmore-specific timer had to be purchased from Sears, not a parts house. You really can't blame Sears for attempting to protect their then precious brand. </span>

It IS less than 30 mins away from me..... but there are 2 things holding me back. I am not bringing any more machines home and it's more than I'm willing to pay.
Judging by the yellow stove next to it, I'm guessing it's being sold by a vintage appliance business.

They'll end up taking less for it. I wouldn't be surprised if they got their hands on it for free or next to nothing.
It's beautiful and I've never seen a Whirlpool that's as feature-rich as a Lady Kenmore, but it makes sense. 1959 was IMO the peak year for excess in all aspects of American industrial design. To wit:

Really nice washer. The ad says it's a '59 model, but the booklet shows slightly newer models after the cabinet restyling took place.

$600 for a washer "that will probably leak"??? I don't think so...

In the right hands something maybe could be made of the thing, and it should scrub up well. But not $600 and sold "as is"; seller will soon learn that bit of reality.
As upthread, they likely got the thing for pennies or nothing and are seeking to make a killing. After all it is *Vintage*, and they've heard about people spending *huge* sums for old appliances.

Anyone know what the blank button over the timer does? My 61 is a suds-saver so it's the return cycle.

My 1960 is NOT a suds machine, so the blank button just takes the space up. IT's easier and cheaper to have only one console in production and just fill in the unused spots on the lower model than build 2 different consoles.

If you open up the console and look at the timer cycle selector mechanism you can flip a little lever and then the button will move and cause the timer to stop at the Suds-Return position on the timer dial.

I wish I could get this vintage 1960 Whirlpool Imperial Mark 12 washer, but $600 is way out of my price range.
They should consider about lowing the price since the seals will more than likely will need to be replaced, and these old Whirlpool/Kenmore belt drives are good machines, but replacing things like the tub will be a huge ordeal, and if you bump the air dome, you will have to fix that since it can cause the washer to leak.
If it were paired up with it's matching dryer, maybe it would be worth $600, but even then that is a little too much.
