Hey guys and gals,
I want to create a CD for my dad´s birthday.
He´s born in 1956 and I don´t knwo what kind of music people in this age hear.
The music should be of the 70´s, 80´s and popular.

I Hope you can help me!

Your desperate n!n0

Ahmmmm

Well, i forgott to say how you can help me.
(No miracle after washing, drying, ironing 10 loads at one day)

Could anybody please tell me, which songs are a must-have of the 70´s and 80´s and really have to be on the DISK.

Sorry, that I said "CD" I surely meant DISK

You can put:

Funkytown (Lipps inc.) 1979
Dreams (Stevie Nicks/Fleetwood Mac) 1978
Make me smile (Steve Harley & Cockney Rebel) 1975

That's it for now :)

I was born in 1959, so I am close in age to your father. Here are my suggestions from the 1970s:

T.REX--- Get It On, Telegram Sam, Metal Guru, 20th Century Boy
SLADE---Gudbuy T' Jane, Cum On Feel The Noize, How Does It Feel
SWEET---Blockbuster, Hellraiser, Fox On The Run, The Ballroom Blitz, Action
SUZI QUATRO---48 Crash, Devilgate Drive, Can The Can
WIZZARD---Ballpark Incident, See My Baby Jive
MUD--- Tiger Feet, The Cat Crept In
ROXY MUSIC--- Virginia Plain, Do The Strand, Love Is The Drug
SPARKS---This Town Ain't Big Enough For Both Of Us, Tryouts For The Human Race

Check the bay for listing "living in oblivion" IIRC its 5 disks,in the series, most ad copy includes tracks and artists. Hope this helps. arthur

tastes change

All that may be true, but on the other hand, why don't you ask your Dad what he'd like to hear?

If somebody made me a CD of the 'stuff' that we used to listen to in the 80's, I'd prolly appreciate it and listen to it once. My tastes have progressed, or reregressed you might say, and I prefer music that is much more obscure and unusual.

Perhaps you could use the song suggestions, only with them being performed with a novel approach, such as played on a swingin' Hammond organ.

Your Dad may have been into classical music and may not appreciate rock and roll (childrens music) at all. In that case he may want to hear some Beverley Sills or Leontyne Price.

Whatever the case, I suggest you include at least one selection played on Wurlitzer Pipe Organ, and it could even be a 60's song, like, Yesterday, by the Beatles.

Good Luck.

Just an opinion

I'm 7 years older than your dad. Of all the suggestions made above here in this thread, only the set from "jmirawm" appeals to me. I couldn't begin to compile a list on my own, I could spend 8 hours and never finish. The idea that you ask what he would like is a good one, it will narrow down the impossibly-broad range of choices.

Thanhks!!!

Thank you very much!
I think there already are many songs which he may like.
He said that he wants a disk with songs of the time when he was young, I don´t knwo exactly what people in his age like to listen to, but I think Rock, Pop and things like ABBA.

I thought of songs like American Pie and so on.

But I think, that we have a big amount of songs which he may like.
Thanks for all!
You still can say more titles!

exactly

Songs from the 70's are all over the CD counters. You don't have to make one yourself, they're available commercially.

Again, if you make one yourself, make it unique.
