A local thrift store had this on C/L for only $65. They claimed they had tested it of course. No leaks, pump drains super fast! Only problem, no agitation. There is a buzzing noise from this part where the water comes in (am guessing it is a solenoid?)...that shouldn't have any effect on agitation, should it? The pulsator in the basket moves freely, the belt is not glazed...any ideas how to trouble shoot this? Next picture shows me pointing where the noise is coming from...

You don't say whether it is filling up OK? It probably won't start to agitate until there is some water in the tub. The part is a solenoid valve and it should not buzz but I would not worry about the noise if it still works OK. If the valve is faulty you could probably use a universal one as long as it fits the internal hose diameter.

I suggest you get it properly plumbed in then try it as you can't really tell what's happening at the moment. I think the buzzing will stop when there's water flowing through the valve. They usually hum when there's no water.
