Here we go again - Bug Report #5

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

I updated my Win2K system to Firefox 3.6, still not seeing hover text on the report button.

I also don't see it in Firefox 2.00.20 on WinNT4, LOL.

Another issue I'm seeing, perhaps more legitimate than missing hover text in older browsers running on older OSes, is upon entering text for a reply post (already logged-in), clicking Submit, the preview is blank (doesn't happen every time). Back (text already filled in), submit again, it's there. This could be a local network problem, there's a bit of sluggishness last few days ... but the preview appears immediately, just is blank on the first submit.

Thanks Glen, it seems to me that the hover text is not working on any Windows 2000 system, but works fine on any other system. Unfortunately I do not have access to a Windows 2000 computer. I'll have to do some research to figure out how to get around that.

As for your other issue with a blank preview screen I have not seen or heard of that happening. Is it still happening today?

The issue with the page bouncing a bit when posts are loading should be for the most part cleared up.

Robert: Sorry, its been a long weekend! On my machines, the site seems faster overall, when creating posts and when navigating. I'm using 2 machines, a Mac Pro (2x3GHz Dual Core Zeon, 2gb) and a MacBook Pro (2.4GHz Dual Core, 4gb RAM) and both the latest Firefox and Safari browsers.

Love the post counts as well!

Robert, I'm also running Windows 2000 SP4 and the report button hover text is working fine, with both IE6 and Firefox 3.6.

Hey Robert,

If I come here from another site then click back to return to the other site (eBay, for example), I can't. It clicks and brings me right back to where I was on this site. I can "favorites" or type my way back, but not click.

Chuck
Vista, IE 7

Hi Chuck, I'm having trouble duplicating that. I start at www.ebay, then I go to my favorites and click on the Super Forum List, then I click on the back arrow and I'm back on Ebay. Seems to work fine for me in Firefox, IE and Opera.

When you say "here" which page exactly did you land on aw.org coming in directly from ebay?

I was on my My eBay page. I came here (Super Forum) using the link below to arrive at the Super Forum Index. I hit back, the page refreshed to the Super Forum Index page. The back arrow is still 'lit' as if I can go back, but but when I try to go back, I keep getting the index.

If I'm in a thread and reading posts, I can go back to the index, but that's as far as I can go.

Hope that helps!

Chuck

Thanks Chuck, you gave me the hints I need to determine what is going on here.

Everyone needs to update their links if you have the Imperial, Deluxe and/or Super Forum Index pages saved in your favorites. If your favorites are set to the old pages please change your favorites to link to the new pages, I'm sure this is what is causing the back arrow redirect.

Robert, you might want to check your code for references to these older links. I've seen this issue occasionally since you started the changes, usually after logging in and posting a message. The only Favorite I have (or ever had) for your site is to the main page (http://www.automaticwasher.org/).

In fact it's doing it right now. The current URL is:

and I'm trying to back up to:

But it won't let me. As with sites that try to keep people on a certain page (usually spam sites), it eventually will go back, if I press the Back key a lot of times and very quickly. Then IE6 crashes altogether after doing this about 5 or 6 times.

Thanks Jeff, I for the life of me cannot get that to happen on any of the computers I have access to. The only place those old links are still posted are in the old non-database style threads. I'm just going to let those old html files fall off into the archives, its going to take a bit longer in the Deluxe Forum, but they will all go. Maybe I'll try removing the automatic re-directs on that page and just post a "this page is outdated message". Maybe that will solve the problem.

Chuck and Jeff

I was able to duplicate the not being able to use the back arrow tonight, it seems it only happpens in IE. I'll work on fixing that tomorrow, once I can make it happen to me it makes it much easier to fix.

Thanks again guys with all your help, you've been extrem

OK Chuck and Rich, I think I fixed the back arrow issues in with Internet Explorer. Could you guys let me know if my fix seems to have helped?

Rich (sudsmaster) I will work on the mobile rollovers tonight when I have my iPod in front of me to test the outcome.

New issue 3-11-10

From the main page, click on "Discuss-o-Mat". Select "Super"and I get a redirect page stating: "This page has been replaced, if you have saved this page as a favorite please update the page with the following new address:

http://www.automaticwasher.org/cgi-bin/TD/TD-INDEX_DISPLAY.cgi?SUP "

I have to put that address in the browser to get to the forum. "Deluxe" works "Imperial" does not.

Using Firefox on Vista

Same problem as MattL & Jamie..... (3/11/10)

When I click on "Imperial" OR "Super" I get that message:
"This page has been replaced, if you have saved this page as a favorite please update the page with the following new address:
(Address listed to copy and paste.)

The Deluxe forum link works just fine!

From which page, this page??? I hope not I changed that two weeks. If so try hitting refresh to get the latest version of that page and see if it works now. Let me know either way, otherwise I have to try something else.
