Here we go again - Bug Report #5

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Ok now I get it

OK I see the problem, I changed the address on the pink, green and yellow points, but not on the pictures of the washers or the soap boxes, etc. (insert a duh for the webmaster here)

Hit refresh on that page and it should work now.

That took care of it Robert!

I don't think I have ever clicked on the pink, green or yellow "points". I've always clicked on the pictures of the washers or the soap boxes to get into the forums.

Thank you very much Robert for your continued diligence regarding our little "Home away from home" here and all the upgrades you are incorporating!

Seems to be just fine now, Robert, except that the newly-added link is now at the bottom of a scroll of Favorites instead of 1/2-way down the front page! Thank you IE.

Thanks,
Chuck

Robert, I'm trying to post a few pics of a sink/stove/refrig unit and all I'm getting is the red 'x' no matter what I try.

Post# 422382 in the "Wile E. Coyote owned this..." thread.

Another problem

Hey Robert,
Sorry to be the bearer of another problem

Its re: Thread no. 27545, Post 422613
Looking at the thread index there should be the post plus 2 responses. But I am only seeing the original post, with no picture, no responses and no log-in on the bottom of the post. See screen shot below. Using XP Prof & IE8

Images

I also wanted to report an issue with images. I can't seem to attach anything. I've tried on both my home PC's and my work PC and all I get is a broken image icon. If I right-click the icon, and go to "View Image" (Firefox) I get a reference for an actual filename, but no pic.

New vs Existing

I've narrowed it down to being able to post a pic in a thread that already exists, but if I try and create a thread with a pic at creation it will not. Does that help?

Still not seeing it ...

Even after Frigilux's posting - by clicking on the thread number, which is what I normally do. However by clicking on the arrow on the thread index to bring newest to top, then I can see the later postings but not the picture in the original posting. And no response boxes nor cartoon.

Thanks Tim and Al so much, I do appreciate you guys letting me know about this stuff. Please keep the bugs coming as you see them.

Al I worked on the issue you are seeing first. You should be able to see the thread now as I manually went into the database and fixed the youtube embed link. The problem was it appears that IE8 seems to not like having youtube video's posted without the " marks around the options. What I'm going to do now is change the system to allow for quote marks to be left in embedded objects like youtube videos.

Tim I will look into your issue next after I fix the quote issue, it seems that others have seen the no picture in the first post of a new thread.

More to come soon.

Thank you again Al and Tim

Yay and I also figured out what was causing no picture upload on first post of a new thread. It was a minor bug, both are fixed now.

Everyone:
I wanted to wait until all the threads were the new style database threads before I turned back on the ability to post embedded youtube videos without having to remove the " marks, but it appears that there is a problem in IE8 with not having the " marks so from this point on you don't have to remove the " marks anymore for those who like to post html code.

There is still the old issue with posts getting cut off if you are in a old style thread if you are not logged in and type a " mark. But thankfully the majority of the threads now are in new style (the Deluxe forum has quite a few old threads yet at the bottom, but they should fall off soon). So it most likely wont be an issue anymore.

Please keep letting me know about these bugs. I appologize for them in advance, but working as a lone programmer without a team of testers its impossible for me to catch everything. I'm about to install another major change and brand new feature, so if you're not logged, do so now if you want to see it. It's pretty cool! I'll have it done after lunch.

I do think you're doing a pretty awesome job as a lone programmer. Can't wait to find out what the new feature is. In the meantime I will have to test posting videos without removing the quotes ofcourse. Here's a video of my friend Wiljan's Miele W432. The machine is from around 1975.
