The tumbles are long at the start of the wash then short in the middle of the wash then back to long tumbles, but on the rinses they are all long tumbles very unlike the rinses on the Electrons which i believe were all short tumbles. I also think the final spin on the cottons is far better & exciting than on the Electron series, rather than starting at 500rpm it starts at 1000rpm but it could be 800rpm but it seems faster, then you have the usual Electron classic 2 second pause then it ramps up to 1200rpm. The only thing it doesn't do on the cottons spin but it does it on the synthetics is the final anti-crease tumbles at the end of the programme. The one thing i don't understand is why Hoover only knocked 15 minutes off the programme time when selecting the Speed Wash button.

Fingers crossed that it's the thermostat at fault like you say because the timer is fine. I've ordered it today at work but it's out of stock but luckily it's still available, just waiting for our supplier to get stocks in. I will have to use the Whites heavy soil programme but at 40deg for the time being, well at least i'll be saving some money on the electric bill for the time being.

Yeah my logic was very similar to the electrons it was the 1st logic 1300. A3632 from memory.

Strangely if you selected the mixed wash button on miminum iron it tumbled better than cottons! And heated twice :-s it would refill because it would hit the delicate programme then heat again! Fun programme though.

Another quirk was when it distribution drained it could be perfectly balanced then the timer would click on and it would stop and then distribute again sometimes out of balance and it would launch around lol.

I do miss it! The speed control died and it started spinning anticlockwise full of water! Then it decided not to tumble anticlockwise at all then the motor started sounded horrific so I decided against repairing it.

We had a Hoover Electron 1100E when we were kids & i used to love messing around with the 3 spin option buttons it really did change the wash sequences. That's why i'm so happy at getting hold of this fun machine, it really brings back all the memories again!

Hi Craig, another classic saved, looks in great nic shiny inside & out, I had a similar problem with those type thermostats, try this, prise the thermostats in the rubber bungs out of the tub and and check there is no build up or residue of scale etc on them, mine had a film and where easily cleaned and worked fine after that...make sure all the terminal connections are good, clean and no crap on those and that they are pushed on tight, one red terminal looks shinier than the rest, possibly been changed...

Hello Craig

If you have access to a multi meter you can test the thermostats to make sure they are not in the "closed" position which could possibly cause the sympton you describe.

Or a very crude way of doing it is to remove the orange and the mauve wires as these if my memory serves me are the 30/40 or 40/50 degree thermostats, that way they are out of circuit and cannot influence the 60/90 degree thermostats.

I’m with Gary, crude but worthy of a try before ordering a very expensive thermostat, shame I don’t have a wiring diagram, different manufactory’s use different ways of holding the timer during the heating period, early 18’s Hotpoint’s, the solenoid engages to advance the timer. In the 95’s the solenoid engages to stop the timer advancing. Not sure about the Hoovers. Would be interesting to see some timer charts and wiring diagrams.

Normally the thermostat via the programer is connected to the stepper motor whilst heating, when the thermostat closes the power supply is fed to the stepper motor and the programer advances

When i first got the machine i tried it out on the fast coloureds 60deg programme & it heated up to the correct temp then i put it on the whites 95deg programme & it was literally boiling the water without advancing & turning off the element, so i'm 80% sure it's got to be the 90-60deg stat. Yes a wiring diagram would really come in very handy Lee because the thermostats really have me baffled at the moment, but i will know more tomorrow when i test the stats.

As long as you replicate the present wiring on the stats you should have no problems, if you look very closely at the jumble of numbers on the stats sometimes they have the temperatures on them, i cannot see them in the picture though

Yes, forgot about the separate stepper motor arrangement used as well, My 1975 Liberator 1851/03 is fitted with the earlier CROUZET timer with two motors one for the sub interval cams and the other for advancing (stepping) the main cam, later changed to the A.K.O. timer in 1976 model 1828/01, single motor and solenoid.

Those AKO timers sounded lovely loads clicks and pings i remember it well.

I was looking in a Hoover service book today (1991) and it covers all models around the logic 1200 here..........bloody frustrating, they made so many variants of one model, for shops etc

Maybe if we get the timer model number i can find a diagram that fits that.

Anyway we shall see how he gets on with his new thermostat.

Good Luck to the repair! I Love repairing washing machines (Which makes people think i am a bit wierd)! I am looking out at taylors to find the machine we had when i was a baby (Some 10 years ago), The Hotpoint WM64 or WM62. A Man i know found a hotpoint 9560 (I Think) Tumble Dryer and got it working good. If only other people were like us and did not throw away machines just 'Cause' They need a new soap draw for example. My 3KG Zanussi Compact machine only needed a new set of bearings and a clean down which the previus owner could not be bothered to do. Luckily i saved it from the skip anyway. I am also looking out for a shot out hotpoint wm63 to use for my project. Please check out my vids, i have got youtube so you can see videos of my machine i restored - More coming soon!.

Hello Henry,

Well let me start by saying there's nothing wrong or weird about enjoying & repairing washing machines, from about 5 years of age i was hooked on them. First of all starting with our mams second hand Servis compact wringer machine then on to our first Automatic washer which was a Creda square door rhythm spin 800 which i would absolutely love to come across again but i think i would have more chance of winning the lotto than finding one. On the subject of people getting rid of old washing machines, yeah that really gets to me. If only i had a big warehouse it would be stacked full by now. It's so annoying seeing a classic machine just being thrown away especially when you know fine well that you could possibly repair it. As for WM60-62-63-64 Aquarius washers we come across these almost everyday.

Hi Craig,

Nice condition machine you've got.
I've got the Washer Dryer version of your Logic 1200 AutoWasher, mine's the Logic Premier (Special Edition) 1250 A8576.
Had a few issues to start with, but works perfectly, alongside my Servis Sapphire & Zanussi JetSystem.
When I was a kid, we had the EcoLogic 1200 AutoWasher A3954 & matching dryer D6722, the washer died in 2001, but we've still got the dryer.

I have the booklet containing the A3954 & your A3786, the book including your washer, also includes the washer dryer that my A8576 is based off, if you're interested, I'll post you copies of the pages.

I've attached afew pics of the Logic Premier for you to compare to your Logic.

If you're interested in dating your Logic, my Logic Premier's from October 1990, if you speak to Paul Nichols, he'll be able to accurately date it for you, just provide the model - A3786 & it's serial number, if it's still inside the door for him.

I still have the Ultima WM72N but the circuit boards have been repaired about 3 times now without any success so i'm waiting for a old Ultima to turn up so i can transfer the boards into mine.

I have watched all your recordings on Youtube & i really enjoy watching them. Well my Logic has the turquoise paddles so i guess it has had a drum replacement in the past. I have downloaded a instruction book from the Hoover website but it's for a Logic 1000 spin, but apart from that it's exactly the same.
