Got a phone call wednesday in response to my wanted add in a local paper.
I explained i wanted old Hoover Keymatics etc (thinking why do people never read the add properly)
The guy says ill read out whats on it, and reads off the above
...........well my attitude changed slightly and a price (£20.00) and collection date was agreed.
I spent most of Wednesday thinking what sort of state will it be in...........thinking the worse
He also explained that the reason it was going was because it no longer span (no problem i thought)
Went down to a place about 35 miles from me called St Austel found the place and to my surprise it is not bad condition at all, a bit grubby, a little bit discoloured (nothing new there).
Got it back to the garage sure enough the spin was crock, so i have stripped cleaned and serviced the motor and replaced the two stubs that would have been brushes at one time.
The control panel mount is broken in one place so the first of the option buttons are not proud, this i can repair whilst i strip the fascia off to clean it all up.
All the options work and the drum bearings are smooth and silent, so i am optimistic about this machine, it completes my line up of early Hoover computer control machines for now
Here are a few crap fots, by the time i got to the garage my phone battery had died.
But i will do more in time
