This was left behind in the Bettendorf house that I moved out of last year.  It's going to be my first attempt at a total restoration, the motor runs good, but cosmetically, she needs a little help.

I'm going to sand the metal body and paint it with Rust-Oleum Nutmeg spray paint.

The bottom will need a little sanding as well.  I don't know if I should paint area around the brushroll or not, I don't want paint coming off and getting on the carpets.

Cool!

Never seen that type of bellows system. I suspect this was the handy sack style? Very cool!

That white mold seems to be a real common problem. Ive had several vacuums with this gunk on it. Cleans of fairly easily though.

Well good luck to you! I need to be inspired to FINALLY get cracking on those darned Hoover 150s I have. I just dont know how to get the fans off. Until then, they sit quiet. :P

Speaking of corrosion. Check out my beautiful 1929 Hoover 575 all original down to the bag and cloth cord, that I payed $40 site unseen for, and had my mom pick it up.

Whoops.

well its still here! All cleaned up, but looking gaud awful. Runs like a quiet dream though.

I have never done anything like this before, and I'm really looking forward to it.  This is the color I'm going to paint the base.  I found a genuine blue Hoover cloth bag, the one that was one it was nasty with mold/mildew.  Next to Kirby and Electrolux, Hoover now becoming one of my favorite brands of vacuums.

Took her outside and used the air compressor and scrub brush on her for about 45 minutes today.  Here's the results.  Tomorrow weather permitting I'm going to start sanding the brushroll and the body.
