Hoover twin tub scan

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Very cool scan - I've always had a soft spot for these twin-tub Hoovers. A neighbor of ours had the Deluxe set and used to let me "help" with the washing for their family of five. I thought it was so cool at the time but looking back, I can't imagine washing this way for so many people when hookups for automatics were in the next room! She used it for a long time though. I have had a few of these over the years, a Hoover like this was the first washer I brought home at age 16 when I could drive and "hunt" on my own. I found a "Deluxe" model with the automatic rinse and water spout at a thrift store a couple of weeks ago - so much fun to play with.

Did you bring it home and try it?

I've always thought Hoover twin-tubs were cool but I haven't found one yet...it seems that Maytag carried Hoover's spin speed to their twin-tub design; I read in the Archives that it was 2000 RPM.

cool machines

I remember an aunt of mine had this Hoover in avocado back in the late 70's.Fun machine to watch go about it's business.I always wanted to get one.The wash action was pretty impressive for an impeller machine.

Hi Austin - I did bring it home, cleaned it up and it worked perfectly. Like the Maytag twinnies, these are relatively simple machines mechanically. The Deluxe model has an auto-rinse feature that I really like, mostly just for the fun of it all as it doesn't really do that great of a job rinsing. Here's a picture of the deluxe model - looks to be about the same year as the previous scan.

BTW - Love the cat rug, hilarious!
