Hoover Twinnie's first wash in Roselle

I am a lucky guy, and very grateful too. Thanks to the kindness of a Hoover collector from the UK and Fred from Milwaukee, tonight I did a load of clothes in my twinnie, downstairs in the bathroom. This past weekend saw the removal of the 30+ year old faucet from the vanity, and the installation of a new Delta laundry tub faucet. With the arrival of the fill hose from the UK today, the twinnie went to work tonight.
My biggest relief is the vanity sink handles the drain water ok with no over flow. Just to be safe though I removed the stopper from the drain so there would be no obstructions. With the stopper removed, the washer hose can be shoved down the drain with no splash up... follow the link to the pics, I really like this little Hoover!

Aren't you supposed to be able to swing that auto-rinse nozzle over to the washtub side and use it to fill the wash tub?

I'll check my files for an owners manual for ya! Model 0517 you said?

I answered my own questions..

Yes, you are able to fill it using the nozzle. The manual says:

TO WASH:
1. Open spin basket lid. Lift, and turn fill spout to wash tub.
2. Fill wash tub to water line.....so on.

I have an extra manual for a model T1023..which seems to be basically the same thing you have, just a newer version. It's yours!

Great pictures Jeff! I'll bet you had a lot of fun tonight - were you amazed at the dirty water in the wash-tub? What did you think of the rinsing ability? It's been a long time since I used one of these as a 'daily-driver' for laundry, but you do get tired of all the work eventually.

I can't get over how minty-fresh that machine is!

Did the DOG have a part in whasing the clothes or getting them full of dog hair to be wahsed?

I did have fun tonight, its a neat machine to play with and I am SO glad I don't have to remodel my bathroom to use it! I did see a laundry sink/cabinet outfit at Lowes though...
I am going to see about getting extra belts, just in case.
As far as use goes this would be a great apartment machine, but its too labor intensive for me to want to use it every week. I guess I am spoiled by my automatic.
At least now that I can use it I can always fire it up when company comes!

Glad you were able to find the parts needed and are up and running.

Like the UK fill hose, and may order one for myself. Currently use a regular washer fill hose with a "quick connect" adaptor set up.

Will agree with you that Hoovers, while fun are more work than using an automatic. If mine were out all the time, may be tempted to use it more often, but only just.

Find washing and rinsing results are best with easy rinsing/low suds detergent. Too much detergent leads to more spin rinses to remove the residue. Hoovermatics will do it, but it is just more work.

That ad.....

I have that ad as well It ran in the June issue of Better Homes and Gardens 1972. It was coupled with TWO ads besides. One showing the Current Hoover Convertible I believe a 1070 with the entire product line behind it, and another with a Hoover model 700 talking about Hoover's "reliability". It's a great magazine ad tho.

Hoover Wheelaway Belt Parts Sought

Hi,

Would anyone know where I can find belt parts to this hoover wheelaway washer/spinner? The larger of the 2 rubberized fiber belts has broken. If I can find replacements - I may as well replace both belts. Any information of belt part numbers or where I can purchase a replacement belt is greatly appreciated!

You'll find them on ebay, there are a couple of sellers over in England who regularly sell these types of things, not super expensive either.
