We’re visiting family for New Years, and we found this beauty on Facebook Marketplace just North of Knoxville, TN this morning. We don’t need it, but the price was too good to pass it up. I think it’s from 1964, but I haven’t had time to investigate, as it’s stuffed into the back of our van. It’s missing a burner knob that I can hopefully locate.

The fellow who sold it to us said the lady it belonged to bought it new and used it until the house was sold this year. The new owners wanted a complete kitchen remodel/update, so he saved it from the scrapyard.

Mid 60s hot point. Hi oven range.

These were really nice stoves technically a lot better than a flare. They were much better built had better wiring and had better burners better clocks, better, oven, thermostats, better switches, etc.

Neat stove, if you can find a place to use it.

Ooooh that is gorgeous.

Imagine ripping that out and replacing it with some modern thing that will be in the tip in 10 years!

Having said that I replaced my lovely Modern Maid (Australian brand - no relation to US Modern Maid) from 1987 a couple of years ago, still hating its replacement new Westinghouse!

In my defence, the Modern Maid was rusted in important places and parts NLA.

You're like a FLAIR, like a dream to me'e (Madon

Sort of an equivalent to General Electric's Americana, would be the Hallmark-name, as for Hallcraft, it designates the configuration, much like Frigidaire's Flair, Roper's Charmette, Westinghouse's Continental, and so on...

Wonder what other makes called this design, such as GE, Whirlpool, and Sears...

RPMS, your fingers in the wringer make me wonder….

Gizmo, we haven’t bought a new appliance in four years. I’ve mostly been focused on replacing the new ones I don’t trust with older ones that I can fix myself. We already have a beloved 1959 Frigidaire 30” (not a Flair) that matches our 1959 Frigidaire refrigerator. We’ve squirreled away several replacement switches and burners for it and sent the clock timer a couple years ago to GEneral TIME RepairS LLC. It’s a simple range oven and does everything we need it to, while looking gorgeous at the same time.

This Hall’Craft’ isn’t replacing it anytime soon. We just figured it would be a nice side project for cleanup. Whether we keep it or not remains to be seen.

Hey Dave!

Definitely. I grabbed the manual for this off ‘Ephemera and it looks like the Hall’Mark’ was for the top of the line models that came with all the features. This one is just a 40” Hall’Craft’, which means it lacks the 4”6”8” burner selector switches on the two largest burners, the removable inner oven panels aren’t Teflon coated, and it doesn’t have the roast minder function (?). Not major losses in my opinion… [this post was last edited: 12/30/2022-21:21]
