i agree with your decision, though if it were around the corner I'd make a small offer, me being me lol.

As the facia layout is the same as the new gen. version, would I be right to pressume the programming would be the same as the new gen. microtronics you already have.

In terms of paying over the odds, I fear I may be doing just that this week, anyway, it never was a cheap hobby/ obsession.

James, great to see you enjoying your growing collection, at your age the space I had just about fitted the first machine i had, also a hoover washdog, back then I was limited to what i could get on the bike or the wheel barrow, hence most of my early find were electric mowers and vacs, I had my route round the neighbourhood on bin night lol.

Clubbing together.....

No i don't mean a night out. I was wondering, if quite a few people would like it, whether several of us put a small amount in to buy it & get it collected, then do the same with restoration.

Just a thought, because whilst i'd like it (my Gran had the exact 800rpm model when i was a toddler), i'm A) knowhere near Norfolk, B) Don't have £50, but could contribute abit and C) Don't have spares but again would be happy to pay for some.

Obviously it depends on likely cost of getting it working, & i'm far from expert when it comes to Hotpoint spares cost (ie if the PCB is shot then it may be curtains for it i guess, or mega bucks to repair/replace), but if anyone else thinks it's worth a joint effort, let me know, either on here or on Facebook.

I'd certainly not be inclined to pay £50 without making some lower offers first though. Im afraid £50 is taking advantage & i don't wanna play that game!

It's not worth £50, but not sure i'd scrap it, seems abit harsh for something that rare, regardless of its (poor) condition.

Now I know Hotpoint Front Loaders are your bag, but I thought the only slanty Microtronic that was L.E. was the short-lived bronze number just before the New Gen models? I know Hotpoint were changing editions every couple of months at that stage (think this is rare - what are the chances of finding an 18780, or for that matter a 15690 with push-buttons!) but do agree that this is Best-Buy (was it one of the Super-buys in fact)...I'm probably wrong of course...

Well, not necessarily, Liam! Indeed, I did drop you an email with my thoughts on the matter.

I've often considered the possibility of a laundry equipment co-op. Trouble is just ironing out the whys and wherefores of shared ownership; the pooling of resources - be they financial, technical or logistical, could well make sense. After all, we can't all rely on meeting the loves of our life here and embarking on a frenzy of collection (and that's not a dig at anyone - just statement of fact

)!

Ive just looked through my inbox & found your email, but i have a facebook contact with a similar name & interpretted the title as one of the several cleverly worded emails i get that, when opened, are just a link which is usually to a virus, so i presumed it was an automatically-generated email using my Facebook contacts' name and therefore i didn't open it - it was just sat in my inbox.

It's only upon closer inspection that i've seen it's from you, so please accept my apologies. The amount of junk emails i get run into over 100 a day so the filtering out process is less thorough that it would be ideally.

It's a shame i missed your email before the item ended, but i'll reply to your email directly so that if it's re-listed we are further forward.

L.E or not?

Using Firefox and it lets me sign in, so here we go with some Microtronic piccies.

First off, I know where the confusin has been caused. In my previous post, which was hastily written at work, I stated...

'All the above were branded 'Microtronic L.E' and have pictures of them all, apart from 18872 or 18873, which were late production models'.

The L.E reference was only meant to apply to models 18871, 18872 and 18873.
Models 18780 and 18880 were the X2000 machines and not L.E's.

Below is the 18780, 800rpm Microtronic X2000...

I always get confused between the early discount machines and the later ones.

Yep the 18871 Microtronic L.E was a 'Super Buy' machine and the piccies below show how the ebay machine once looked...

Nearly forgot!

Model 18871 was introduced in March 1983 and was upgraded to form 18871/2 in January 1984 and then model 18871/3 in April 1985!

Strange to think that the 18-series bodyshell was still in production so deep into the production run of the New Generation machines, which were introduced in 1982.

Model 18872 was an almond cabniet version of the 'Super Buy' 18871 and followed the same upgrade processes, being modified to model 18872/2 and 18872/3 at the same time as the 18871.

Model 18873 was a 1000rpm exclusive model, sold through Comet only.
