how good or bad is your washer ?

My Maytag LA 511 washer and LDE 410 dryer

Pros: 31 years old and not one red cent spent on repairs
Uses 40 gallons of water on Ex. Large load, water is not a problem here
Not too noisy
Everything comes out clean and lint filter works well.

Cons: 31 years ago I thought Almond was best, I would have got white just like the same models as mine on the brochure

Not sure whether to label this "Good" or "Bad", "Pro" or "Con", but my washer is noisy during unbalanced loads (yet there have been so few, and often when the laundry load inside was very small), so, yes, the machine needs to be stopped and everything inside shifted... (It's a KENMORE, but it doesn't stop itself and shut-off,--It BANGS!!!!)

 

Also note Bleach Dispenser, but I wish Fabric Softener and even Liquid/Powder Laundry Detergent could also be just as Automatic!

 

Here are a few pics of this great mechanical marvel doing my daughter's clothes-- and on that very potentially inefficient Warm Wash/Warm Rinse and with a (Gasp!) Warm SECOND Rinse:

My daily driver
I LOVE MY WASHER!
and whats not to love about a black faced woo-wooing kenmore washer! Auto temp, an actual warm rinse, infinite water level, off balance buzzer, bleach dispenser (which I would never ever use)
No cons what so ever!

Here is my daily driver right now and its bad thanks goodness its on its last laeg because when it breaks it will be replace by a hubesch ZWN432 topload washer with agitator replacement model picture included because for me i find that a top load washer cleans better

I really believe

The OLD front loaders like a Laundromat or a Bendix cleaned great, but then they used water!! The new FL cant clean because they try to wash a load of clothes with a tea cup of water..LOL!

Hans, my Duet WFW97 uses a tremendous amount of waster, not a tea cup.  And it removes stains and soil I've had difficulty being removed with my Lady Shredmore.  The Duet takes no longer to do a sanitary wash cycle than it did for me to presoak whites for a while, wash, and double rinse in the Lady Shredmore and uses far less than the 80+ gallons of water for those 4 fills.  All garments in my house are lasting a helluva lot longer with the front loader than with the Lady Shredmore.  I hope I never go back to a top loader.

Dont get me wrong..

I LIKE a front loader best...maybe I need to see one of these, I saw a new LG that was installed at work and was really not impressed...A Duet I thought, was just like all the rest of the new stuff...

Hans, I use cycles on my Duet that use the supplemental heater and use more water.  Allergen, Bulky Items, Sheets/Linens, Whites, Kids Wear.  I also use delicate and hand washable when needed.  "Normal/Casual is not used because it uses so little water and is what the energy star label is used for. I think you know me well enough, do you think I'm gonna settle for just "ordinary"?  As I've advocated here before, I don't use cycles on my washer, dryer, or dishwasher by what their label/description says, I use the cycles and settings for what I expect it to do.

No need to worry norgeway its just that in my case i grew up with a topload washer in my family and use a topload from 1993 to 2004 since for me its much easyer using a topload washer
