How Much Laundry do you do?

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Too many compared with most single ppl probably..

Hey Guys

It varies a bit but typically...

1x 60 deg cottons for white/pale blue towels/bathmats and teatowels

1x 40 deg cottons for dark bedding and boxers/socks

1x delicate 40 deg for light colour tops etc

1x delicate 40 for black/dark work trousers/tops

1x delicate 40 for Jeans

And before anyone asks about the delicate cycle for jeans its fine as I only ever wear them twice and they dont need ironing if they go on a hanger straight out the machine :)

Seamus

Also I only ever use the short option on Cottons(with extra rinse)

I do about 7 to 8 loads per week for my partner and myself.

Tuesday Sheets (king size with 4 pillow cases) Warm/cold. 1
Colors- pj bottoms, t-shirts, colored undies
shirts, shorts 1 somestimes 2 loads
Whites-white t-shirts, shirts, socks, kitchen
towels

Saturday Sheets 1, colors 1, towels 1, duvet 1, whites 1

I do roughly about.. :

1- 2 loads a day of Coloured or Dark clothing on a week day.

then at weekends I do Towels, Kitchen Linen, Jeans , Bedding, more coloureds and a load of whites - which usually work out at about 8 loads for the weekend

So I average out at about 18 loads a week, or maybe slightly more if there is anything delicate e.t.c to be washed :)

Sounds like alot! I never realise how much Ive done until I actually give it some thought LOL!

I stockpile on clothes also to do medium to large loads. Same with towels which I always hang outside. So on a weekly basis there is 1 load of sheets and pillow cases. Each week one of the quilts or bedspread or bottom quilts goes in then the next week pillows. I load of dog bedding sometimes 2. 1 or 2 loads of towels depending on weather, 1 load of colors, shirts and pants, 1 load of whites and 1 or 2 loads of my wifes clothes. She doesn't like mine washed with hers. Mine are always have a lot more dirt on them from yardwork etc. So I guess it ends up being 5-10 loads a week.

We each wash our own

I don't know how many loads Cathy runs through the Affinity every week but I get by with 2:

White cottons: Quick Wash cycle with cold water as a pre-wash, Heavy Duty with hot water, chlorine bleach; Stain Clean, Extra Rinse and Extended Spin options.

Colors: Heavy Duty cycle with cold water; Stain Clean, Extra Rinse options.

My needs are simple.

Oh, and on the weekends, we wash the bed linens.

Mondays & CBS Comedies!

Thought I'd chime in on this thread -

Monday is my dedicated wash day. It started with my Mom many years ago (1960's) where as a kid I used to watch the towels tumble in the purple light (through the door window) of our Hamilton dryer while CBS comedies were on the TV.

1 - 2 white loads
1 permanent press load
1 cold/gentle cycle load
2 dark loads
1 - 2 loads of towels

That's just for the two of us. I have a TV right near the dryers so I can fold/hang laundry while watching the comedies on CBS. My other roommate does 2 - 3 loads every 1 1/2 weeks.

Thank goodness for two washers and three dryers!

Mike

For myself in a week, I will normally do a load of whites (towels, underwear and t shirts) altogether generally on cottosn 60, sometimes 40 if I forget to change the temperature, then 2 or 3 loads of clothes (whether they be darks or colours) on 30 or 40 degrees - whether its cottons or minimum iron depends both on my mood and if I'm using the dryer or not. Bedding I will change every week or two, they get the standard cottons 60 both for the duvet cover sheets and pillowcases as well as the mattress protectors, but again if I'm using the line I will sometimes use minimum iron 60. Jeans once a week usually on Denim or Cottons 40. Will use a colour detergent or whites/bio detergent accordingly to the colour of a load, very strict on colour care detergent though, have noticed how my stuff keeps it's colour whereas a lot of laundry my mum and sister wash in non bio has faded quite considerably. I would say for myself I do about an average of 5-6 loads a week.

I don't really keep track of what everyone else does - though my sister shoves everything in on minimum iron 40 with a fairy tab and about twice the dose of fabric softener (apparently she reacts to biological detegrents, a load of rubbish as non bio here is just a marketing scam, yet doesn't realise that its the fabric softener making her itch), whether its white dark sheets etc - it's safe to say their laundyr always smells and is never clean. Everybody else's laundry just gets done accordingly with no real set routine, then theres about 2 loads of towels a week, usually it's put on by whether the laundry basket is reached first by myself or my mum.

So with everybody's loads together in a week I suppose we must do about 15 a week, the washer is always on at least two times a day, very rare it's not on in a day!
