This is how I imagine a direct drive washer in 2025. Glass lid, dual action agitator, stainless steal wash basket, precision built transmission and drive train, commercial grade clutch, 50/50 flow serviceable water valves, tap hot fill, warm rinse option, porcelain enamel coated lid and body, metal timer, heavy duty switches, rust resistant base frame, long life over sized motor, resource saving spray rinse, drain check valve, a variety of BOL, MOL, TOL, standard cycle and programmed cycle machine options.

Of course no electronics across most of the model lineup. Note that capacitor micro farad value is purely a generic average, it will be higher or lower depending if the motor is built for for 120 volts, 240 volts, 50 or 60Hz.

Well, the way the top one is, but with the Whirlpool name...

Surely would prefer a lot more than a Speed Queen...

I'm even almost tempted to ditch my Maytag Pet Pro after two years, just to get a Whirlpool that will have a timer with a readout that will tell me how much longer the cycle is, which the Maytag doesn't, and an end-of-cyle signal, it also lacks...

I'd love to see the direct drive back under a dozen different names like Maytag, Whirlpool, Roper, Amana, Jenn-Air, Magic Chef, ect. I think many people would be open and willing to buy a new Direct Drive if given the chance.
