The 1961 Coldspot with bottom freezer. Band-Aid pink, huge enough to double as a CD bomb shelter, absolute top of the line with flourescent lighting in the frig compartment and heated freezer floor with drain in the middle for the defrost water. The floor heater was broken and I felt pretty proud of myself for installing the Sears-issued retrofit system for draining the water all by myself. That frig was silent and had the "space master" shelving system with nuclear-esque emblem on the front. It was so huge that I left it behind since it wouldn't fit at my new place.
A 1950 GE 2-door top freezer model, manual defrost. A solid performer I got for my sister from an old lady who was updating her kitchen appliances back in the early 80's. A friend of my sister's really wanted that frig and she sold it to him. Replaced that with an early 60's Coldspot bottom freezer model, not as big or flashy as the pink one and it also needed the defrost retrofit, but it was quiet and well outfitted. Left behind when my sister moved and didn't take anything that huge with her.
I miss my 70's Maytag laundry pair. The dryer drum started to make this loud screeching sound and then just froze up. I loved that dryer, electronic control, completely automatic, turn to the type of fabric you're drying and give the knob a push and that was that. Quiet and efficient. The reliability of the matching washer goes without saying. Couldn't find another used pair of the same type so ended up buying a new Amana pair--total junk. But that rant is over on the thread about things we're glad we don't have anymore.
