Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Best Compact Vintage Portable Washers

Hoover was probably the most popular of the TTs, The MT is quieter while spinning than a Hoover and the MT is the most compact.

If you have a little more room the SQ TT is the largest and is not as hard on clothing as the MT when washing and is by far the most serious TT.

For a great 2nd Washer I would get a portable 1973-1986 Whirlpool automatic, I have used Wringer Washers and TTs and they get old very fast when you have to manually control every step of the process.

Very Quiet!

You are so correct Martin about the A50.  I knew the spinner was hella fast, but didn’t realize it was 2000 rpm.  It was perfect when I lived in an upstairs apartment.

Have or had all three; vintage WP portable/convertible (since moved on), Hoover TT and Maytag wringer still remain. Each have their own niche IMHO, but in terms of getting large amounts of laundry done quickly, and if those items are big, the Maytag wins.

Cannot do queen or king sized sheets in the Hoover TT. Nor really blankets, quilts, or other bulky items. Maytag wringer handles those things easily. Yes, it's a bit of work, but far better than dealing with TT, and certainly none of the larger items would fit well in WP portable.
