Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

That sure brings back memories. Thanks for posting !
My very first (own) washer was an Indesit W1020.
It was looking almost identically but had only 3 pushbuttons and free temperature control.
It was an amazing 5,5 kg capacity and it was the loudest machine I ever heard. The belt was very loose and I could hear a squeaking noise at the start of every turn of the drum.
Filling with water took an eternity and the rubber boot became sticky after just a few months of use.
But I liked the rinse level and when it kicked staight into distribution spin with all the water. Finally after two years I sold it and bought a decent AEG, which were still great machines in 1990.

I've used one on holiday at Paston but it had a filter flap on bottom left and spun only 820 max, but water always came down the glass when it spun and it sounded great.

Hello, first post here. thought i'd dive in since my parents used to have an Indesit Omega Ecosense 1296 from 1993. I was trying to get mum to get an asko, then a zanussi. Sadly my folks were a bit poor then so the indesit it was! It had loads of buttons although only ever used on/ off and ecosense haha. It had the square door and the faulty interlock that ment you could open the door and it would just keep on a running. Compared to the indesit machines you get today they were amazing. They were simple and ours never had any bother. It lasted 10 years and probably is going today, they left it behind because their new house had intergrated appliances.

Good to see there is some still around. Never seen that model before.

Thanks for your posts.

From what I remember of these machines, they had nice large drums and could wash quite large loads. They were very easy to use and were quite cheap to buy.

I do remember them being noisy with a particularly screechy motor but they also were more stable than other makes.

I don't think they generally lasted all that well and would get noisier with age.

Thanks...

For the warm welcome! Robert, your descrpition of the aging process was pretty spot on. It did get louder with age. Also the bearings were starting to fail i think. Still, it lasted well for 10 years can't see the indesit in my house lasting out the year hehe
