Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Hmmmm . . . so it appears those chops were cooked in pretty much the same way as they would if using the much maligned indoor grill. Might it be that the Faberware's element puts out more searing heat than that of your average indoor grill?

I would vot for the Farberware Open Hearth electric grill as well-Used to use one fairly regularly-when I lived in an apartment.I know I have the cooker somewhere-don't know if its lasted thru several moves-Are these still available?May be easier for me to buy a new one.Yes I feel the machine should have a switch somewhere on it-the unplugging and plugging in wears out outlets and the power cord-as well as the heat element.Burns the connectors on the element end of the cord and the element.Remember having to go to the appliance parts store in silver spring MD to get cords, and elements.Otherwise the machine worked really well.to clean up-just throw the parts into a dishwasher except the element. And some kind of varible control for the heating would be good.I have a yard sale cooker -"Maverick" that I bought a a yard sale that is sort of similar to the Farberware but has varible heat and a switch. Its a nice alternative.I never used the rotesserie for the Farberware-always remember buying the ones that didn't have it.I always cooked flat peices of meat so I didn't need it.

Sounds like the Maverick got it right with providing variable heat and a power switch. I could probably reproduce the results I get from the Roto-Broil on a Maverick. I have to check out the Faberware more closely since people here are saying it's easy to clean. That's a big plus!

Gadget, you did not leave the opening in the foil for air circulation!

The rack has two positions, close to the element for regular grilling and turned over so that it is a bit higher above the element for more delicate foods, although I have grilled salmon fillets in the regular rack position. To give food a bit more flavor, I place one of the fake lava rock panels from the JennAir grill in the funnel-like area under the heating element to vaporize some of the drippings and generally use it under the range hood in case there is any smoke (none so far).

Be sure to keep track of the element support. It's small and easily misplaced.

Gadget, sorry. I knew that you knew the proper way to use foil. The drip tray was made of aluminum so that it would quickly dissipate heat from the drippings, according to Farber representatives. Or just a way to save money.
