Interesting Bendix!

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

I remember

Using one of these machines in the US. Family friends had a lake house and had installed a Bendix machine almost identical to this one. However, it was not a dryer -- only washed, rinsed, and damp dried the clothes.

This model would have been made in the mid to late 1950's. The timer and water temp dials were the same design as on the
Bendix Economat, the second model with the rubber tub.

It was a great machine that did exactly what it was supposed to do. This model, though, still had to be bolted to the floor.

Yes , its a UK model 1961, its the first Bendix washer dryer, still a bolt down, 9lb wash, 4lb dry, using a blower like the larger models!!!Oh yes and with heat / boil as well!!! actually the semi-automatic is best for boiling, keep going until you switch off...Lol

Switches are Time & Dry temp / Wash time & Water temp!!!

Ohh Mike

I am falling in love with that machine.............where did you snap it! Is it in your garage??

It's interesting the machine in the Aussie article, I can see elements of the american version. The lower door panel is from the 1948 Gyro, the door is from the 1950 GYro. It makes sense why create new molds when you reuse existing molding on other makes in unconnected markets. Clever.

The door is 1950 but the door glass is unlike anything seen on a US machine so its a combination of many machines.

That's why thank god we can still get English door boots for our machines. They haven't been made here in 44 years!
