Well, I've just about gotten her completely cleaned up! She runs fabulously, all she needs as of right now is a new spin solenoid, I've yet to test the water valves though. So, for now, I just fill manually and engage spin vs. agitate manually. Here are some updated pics including the maiden wash load!

Well Done Junior!

Nice to see you've got your new baby spanking clean and near up and running.

For parts, check out the eBay seller "Swede". I've posted several of his Frigidaire parts auctions before, and he does seem to have a very wide and diverse stocklist. Maybe he has what you need.

Best of luck!

Oh my Jamie - the WO-65 looks just great. The pulsator column looks just MINT - a cap with no scratches, too cool for words. I also am curious on what product you used to get that new washer shine!

Thanks for sharing,

Ben

I used Bon Ami on the tub and agitator and I used some mild soap on the cabinet! It took hours and hours of scrubbing, 4 for the cabinet and 2.5 for the tub and agitator, however, the tub still has some staining and the agitator base isn't near done yet, but I couldn't wait to use it!!!

Jamie, it looks beautiful!! The hours of scrubbing certainly paid off.

Does the spin solenoid get power to it from the timer? Hopefully it will be a simple repair and you'll be automatic again in no time.

Congrats again - I'll bet you were just tingling all over when you heard that water slamming against the cabinet on the first spinout!

well done Jamie, you have every right to feel proud of what you have done there. It looks great.

Can you get a solenoid easily? Is it the same as any other machine, or do you have to get a special one for that machine?

Chris

Just a little jealous...

... that is so cool that you got run a washload through the Unimatic! I'm sure it was a blast! I have yet to wash with my Unimatic yet, although hopefully that will change soon.

Congrats Jamie

Are you certain that the solenoid is bad? Have you cleaned the rust off of the terminals and tried it out again?

BTW....very nice cleaning job!

Frankly, that spin solenoid looks like a pretty common industrial type, and I bet you could even take it apart and rewind it, if it's bad.

Years ago, a lot of stuff, seals, o rings, bearings, were (and usually still ARE) catalog items. So the 'genuine parts' you buy might just be someone else's part rebranded. Not that that's bad. GE, GM, Whirlpool, etc likely didn't want to make their own bearings, and seals, and all, so they used whatever catalog items they could.

I'm not sure those Grainger solenoids would work, there are 5 terminals on my solenoid. Robert has told me however that he has a replacement that he's going to send to me, thanks for the help though!

Hey Jamie,

I thought about the Laundry Solenoids at Grainger too - but after looking at the trip solenoid on my WO-65, I realized that there are a few too many terminals on the Frigidaire version and the Grainger supplied solenoids would not work.

After looking at the wiring diagram, I would suspect that the white leading to the solenoid is the common, blue might power the motor, and possibly brown is the trip - or what is causing the solenoid to engage. Without doing more research by looking at the timer chart, this is mostly a guess.

It is interesting that a screw is missing that holds the solenoid in place - maybe someone has played with it before? I would give it a bench test to see if it isn't the wiring/timer.

Ben
