Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

You'll find that most manufacturers changed each years models as some point from "New & Improved" to "Cheaper and won't last as long". The problem is to determine what year this occurred with each manufacturer and buy a machine the year before the change came.

Scooter,

Welcome to the club. I hope you realize that along with this "bug" sometimes comes the need to be handy with repairs and maintenance. Any machines of this age usually need a little help (unless you're very lucky).

Hay,

I have this exact washer and dryer. Except I have a problem with the top loader as its not draining during the spin cycle. I've checked the hoses and inlet for any blockages. The belt is turning the drum. The drum, unfortunately, is being spun and with full water without it draining. It does "drain" but it takes usually like 7 or 8 tries. It sounded to me like the ticker is skipping over something that makes it not drain. Does anyone out there have any ideas how to fix this???

The pump is driven by a second belt on the motor pulley.  The motor reverses direction for agitate vs. spin.  The pump forces water back into the tub outlet port during agitation.  It has no choice but to drain when the motor runs in the spin direction ... unless the pump belt perhaps is broken, or the pump pulley is broken, or the pump is jammed with an escaped sock (that'd put a bind on the motor from the additional strain of driving the jammed pump, unless the belt broke).  The dual motor pulley can also break depending on the design of the pulley which results in the belt(s) slipping off ... happened to my sister's LA512.

The only function of the timer regards to draining is reversing the motor for spin.  If it spins then it should drain ... see first paragraph.
