Saw this beast at Home Depot-just had to get one for my disposal collection-My-My how ISE has changed--They have changed these critters entirely-like they started with a clean drawing board.
First off the unit has undercutters-and for the food waste to get out of the sizing slots in the shred ring-it then goes thru the undercutters.
Next they have BOTH types of hammers on the flywheel.-cast swivel hammers and fixed ones.
they put in "rind flippers" on the center of the flywheel-You would see these in their older fixed hammer cast shredder machines.now they are back.Helps keep large waste items in motion so the other hammers can break them down.
A one HP induction motor with Solid State OL and reverse functions.also has the electronic jam breaker something like the Viking disposer.
Smaller spacing between the edge of the flywheel and shred ring so thin waste peices can't "sneek" thru.
removable splash guard-so you can clean it easily or replace it.
Flexible rubber dishcharge tube mount so as to reduce noise-but it is harder to install under the sink-you have to wrestle with pliers and the snap ring around the discharge tube.also the machine is VERY heavy-but powerful and quiet.Unlike many other disposers-has a rather beautiful brushed metal motor case-sad it has hide under the sink.
also smaller drain holes in the flywheel so waste can't sneak thru that either. They have made great improvements in their machines.

I am very bummed...

That I bought the Viking and was not aware that ISE was coming out with new models!
I checked them out at Home Depot as well, the Excel model is very intriguing with its fixed and movable hammers, undercutters and removable guard.
The Excel costs about $100 more than the old model 777SS, but appears to be more substansial and better made.
I tip my hat to ISE for actually making something better, rather than just cheapening it.
As near as I can tell this is their first major redesign of their disposals since the early 70's when the swivel hammer models first came out.

I
was so impressed with the machine I bought one.Now if they could make a batch feeder just like this one!!I am impressed with the "extreme makeover" in design.Gotta be the most redesigned disposer out there.

Always been an ISE fan. Even though my house has a GE disposer, the family still calls it the "insinkerator".....like "kleenex".

the old, nasty "no name" insinkerator in my college apartment burned out the other day...our maintenance guys are already replacing our dishwasher, so my roomies and i are afraid to tell them about the disposer in fear of them charging us. so we're looking to get one ourselves.

i started searching Ebay, that's when i learned about the Evolution Insinkerators. WOW are they awesome. I bid on a few of them, but lost cuz their prices shot WAY up into the low to mid hundreds, when i was bidding 20 bucks or so.

i'm currently bidding on a Badger 1....oh well.
When i get my own place......
