Sad for someone/. glad for me
When to the back storage are of the store I work at today, what do I see in the pile of scrap appliances? '59 Frigidaire Custom Imperial! Looked to be well cared for, it was going to scrap so the guys just tossed it around. Asked the store manager if he'd mind if I pulled a few things off. No problem, so after work I went to work stripping much of the possibly usable stuff.
Unfortunately when they tossed it around the broke the glass panel and the light panel. not too bad and glueable so I grabbed them, mine has a small crack too. I know I'd be hunting for years to find one if I needed it. Pulled the burners, and the burner controls plus the heat minder unit. Mine is long gone hoping this one is in working order. It has 2 wires coming out of it that go the the control. Date stamp on the burner control is '62 so I hope it's the new improved one. Grabbed 3 of the oven elements, was too tight to pull out the oven to get the 4th, hope I don’t end up needing that some day. Also pulled the clock- I really need that if it's working. took the knobs too, have no need but perhaps someone will.
I really wanted to pull the oven thermostats, but was too difficult to get the mercury tubes out of the oven - which was very clean. Was hoping to find a rotisserie for Fred but no luck, this one had the little metal button in the center.
I have one burner out, the small rear one, so I hope I can get that one up and running, I'll have to investigate and see if one of the controls is a speed heat unit, the burner I pulled only had 2 wires, found a 3rd flopping around, so I'm not sure. As far as I know my speed heat works, but it's been awhile since I used it.
To make the weekend better I won the yellow 12 speed mixmaster I've been after for a few years, $24 plus shipping, not bad. No bowls, but I have both yellow bowls so the is a non-issue. So, all in all a good weekend.
