Year of manufacture?

I don't know the year this was made.
Does anyone know how to decode this?
If I post the serial number would that help?

Bob (appnut),
How long ago was it that you downloaded a user manual for this
and where from? I would love to get one myself. Do you still
have one you could email to me or tell me where to get it.

thanks, Patrick

Patrick it's online, downloadable PDF format at Kitchenaid's web site. Go to customer service and then look for trouble shooting toward the bottom of the page. There you can access use & care manuals. The model is the KUDI21SS1 or KUDI21SS2

Patrick's KDIS21 came out in late 1985. After Whirlpool acquired KA in 1986, they continued this as model KUDI21S through 1987.

Patrick--you might look on the water valve, motor relay, or blower motor for a date code.

Bob,

Thanks for the info on the user guide. Great info to have. I appreciate it.

Austin,

Thanks for the compliment. It is beautiful. I was looking for one with no dial and a chrome surround and this is what I found. I feel very lucky.

Tom,

Thanks for your wealth of knowledge on the KA's in general. I will look for a date code when I'm cleaning everything up. I went ahead and ordered the micro filter from Repair Clinic and it should be on it's way. Looking forward to getting this baby installed and running.

I got this dishwasher a couple of years ago in Newport RI...one that I got on Ebay...the machine was used by a couple that used the house as a summer home and rarely used the machine. They were tearing down the house they were using and building a bigger one and they were going to throw this out. It was the best 50 bucks I ever spent for a dishwasher.

detergent

One thing I do notice is that this dishwasher is a detergent pig. Compared to the Maytag it replaced I seem to go thru Cascade Complete faster than I did with the other.I fill both cups and the indent for the Pots?pans cycle.
I replaced the silverware basket with an older style one since it didnt have the slot for the knives and such. Plus its a bit smaller and it doesnt let anything hang thru it.
I do love this dishwasher and it doesnt take long at all for a load to get done. I do think that sometimes the Pots/Pans cycle could be a bit longer for really grimy stuff.
Yet everything comes out nice and the glasses spotless.
