I've just won!

Hi all!

I've just won a purple Hotpoint on ebay! it's a 1509/05 (I think...) - not the Liberator, but hey, very close! From the tiny picture, it looks in ok nick so potentially a bargain too.

I've now got to work out how to get it from Skegness to the West County. Has anyone got any suggestions for reliable couriers - both Richard and me have had very unhappy experiences with some, so any ideas would be much appreciated!

Beuatiful machines, I think if your not happy with couriers, then the money you saved buying it, maybe take a day off work and go collect it, at the same time you can see why Skegness has the reputation it has ;-)

Congrats David, lets hope its a worker!! given its been in the garage for a year, and Skeggy is nearer to Kings Lynn where Mark is , it probably is going to need the once over before you depart these shores with it...

Bob, although the cabinets are white, the 70`s trim colour was PURPLE, so the range is always referred to as the Liberators or Purples...very designerish for the time , but very popular!!!

Hello, I've finally signed up after a year or so of lurking!

My Grandma had the washing machine that is in the centre of the brochure, it was a fantastic machine.

Really pleased that you finally got one.

Would recommend you to do what Mike mentions. If you have the time and resources, before you go, pop it down to Mark's for a once over.

Complete too with original laminate lids - quite a rare thing to find, as people I think tended to dispose of their machines but keep hold of the laminate cover. One of those things, that you have no use for but that you might have a use for sometime in the future.

Cant wait to see pics of it!

Very exciting!

I'm really looking forward to getting it, and ideally would go over to Skegness (so bracing!) and then take it to Mark for a rebuild. (Mike, I believe its been in storage for a long time, so I bet the bellows is gone). However two flies in the ointment - days off work aren't on the agenda in my line and also its going into storage for a year until we have actually bought a permanent home, so am not convinced its worth doing before I'm ready to install it and use it.

Bob - Mike has explained why we call them purples - Hotpoint really did have very cool designs in the 60s (very minimalist) and 70s - funky purple. Thanks also to Mike for saving and showing the 1509/10 - the ultimate example of a Hotpoint Liberator!!

Paul - yes the fact that it has the worktop suggests it was well looked after, so here's hoping - can't wait to find out which version of the 1509 it is - it might just be an early four-pole motor, non-interlock one even!

If anyone out there knows of decent couriers please let me know!
