are now out in abundance and for sale.

I just bought a 1/2 bushel this morning and this place I
bought them at has a machine that even shells them for you.
The peas and having them shelled came to a total of $17.50
I hate shelling them, too time consuming.

But for any of you people that are located here in NJ...its
time to buy fresh peas and strawberries and asparagus !!

YUMMMMMM

Hi Ray,

I'm very basic with the way I do mine.

I put them into a pot and barely cover them with water
and boil them gently until they're tender.

Then I add some whole milk to the pot until the liquid
that remains is mostly white and a big gob of real butter.
A little salt & pepper and they're done.

I freeze some in freezer bags too.
I always blanche mine to kill any bacteria on them for about
a minute to a minute and a half.
They will turn bright green.

Spread them out on paper towels and dry them off by patting
them with more paper towels and put them in freezer bags
and kinda flatten them as best you can laying them down on
cookie sheets and putting them in the freezer.
Once they are frozen you can stack them up and use as needed.

I just LOVE fresh peas !

I used to shell peas for hours with my mom. She would freeze some, and we always had creamed peas with baby potatoes, yummy!

I like fresh peas and frozen peas, but I don't care much for peas in the can, they are two mushy for me.

Jim - I'm with you on that one.
I hate peas from a can too.
Actually, about the only thing I do eat from a can is whole
kernal corn or creamed corn.
I can't believe that some people actually buy canned asparagus.
Major YUCK!

And yes, you can cook baby reds with the peas.
Thats very good too.

I'm cooking some peas and dumplings right now.
