My goodness. After moving into my brand new home last May 01 had to change from an LG dishwasher which was horrible.

So, Splurged for the New Kitchen Aid with the window model # in thread subject.

Installed 11/17/2016. Yesterday, 03/14/2017. Pump is shot, Not even enough water to circulate any of the three spray arms! Very disappointed. Have service coming out on Friday of this week. Under warranty of course.

Should I ask or insist on another unit?

wow, that's unheard of from a Kitchen Aid...

let's see what the tech finds and actually replaces.....curious as to what he finds inside....

but if it were to happen again within this same time frame, yeah, at that point, I would request a new one...

keep us posted....

For replacement

Unless it is under a recall of some type. I believe Whirlpool, Kitchenaid's parent company requires in their warranty, and extended warranty programs that you have three repairs for the same issue within a certain amount of time.

You may want to pull out your warranty papers to see what your's specifically states.

Hmm. Sure the DW is actually getting enough water?

Could either be the pump itself, it's control (I think these are variable speed pumps?), fill system, or the diverter.

Have you tried the old unplugg, plug back in strategy? Any odd noises, behaviours, error codes?

You could try...

Adding some additional water to it with a pitcher. Then see if the pump sounds normal. You may have a clogged fill valve. When the LG was removed, did they leave and reuse the old fill valve, perhaps?

Will keep you all posted. No info yet. The toothless wonder that came here today, asked me if My water meter was fully opened. I excused him as fast as he got here!Dear God!

well, don't be too surprised, they come across all sorts in the field....problems and questions you wouldn't believe.....

I bought a TV once, brought it home, and it wouldn't work....the first question they asked was if I plugged it in.....part of me felt insulted....but I do understand where they were coming from.....

there are people in the world who try to use a self sticking stamp by licking it!....it happens!...

Asking simple questions may seem insulting. . . .

But. One time when I was managing a Video store, a man rented a camcorder. We always gave instructions and a demonstration on operation before rental. About 20 minutes later he called from the event he was to be recording stating the camcorder wasn't working.

We went through about another 20 minutes of troubleshooting, when I said. "I know this sounds like a stupid question, but did you take the lens cover off?"

No he hadn't, everything was fine after that.

Okay, here is the issue. It's the circulation pump and motor that is faulty, so the diagnosis stands. Parts are ordered and should arrive at the shop on Monday. Not sure when it will be installed.

Harley - The place where I purchased the machine is a Mom & Pop. They want to try and correct the problem first. I said okay, however they did not say I could not have another machine. I told them I would upgrade to an even higher model if it came to a replacement. Yes, you are correct with the 3 issues within a given time period, 1 year.

Eugene - No filter screen etc. on this machine.

Henrik - Yes the machine is getting enough water. Did the breaker on/off trick, results the same. No error codes.

Malcolm - Did the pitcher trick. Results the same. "They" did not install the machine, yours truly did, and yes, everything was replaced, and flushed the water supply valve/line before installation. Have done a bunch of them and know exactly what is right and wrong. Off topic, anytime new appliances have been purchased, THEY never install them. Always me. I don't trust (no pun intended) the bumbling idiots! I could go on and on with that subject. Peace for now on that.

Yogi - Thanks for caring. I was surprised a KitchenAid would fail like this as well being only 3.5 months in use. AND as clean and careful with everything, especially appliances. The Appliance Center told me that I could have another one, but let's try repairing first. I agreed. However, I would not mind getting the TOL Model. Sounds like I might be trying to break it right? LOL!
Really, "Did you plug the TV in" OMG, but, you are right, I get it.

Harley - Your camcorder story is typical. It is funny too. However, when someone tries to tell us something so silly and stupid about OUR appliances, especially who these folks hire today for repair. OH no honey, I am not the one! This dude most likely would not have even known the Difference from my washer or dryer, especially the Maytag Neptune set. I can hear it already "which one is the washer?" Anyway, getting off topic again.

Will keep you all posted on my Dishwasher issue. AND, I have a lot of company coming this weekend. Guess the old sink and hands will get a work out.

Thanks for caring all. (most likely the longest post I have ever done)

I manage a call center. Have for many years

I could go on at nauseam telling stories of the really stupid things people do with their computers.

We have one lady, a repeat caller who calls at least once a week explaining that her Internet is not working because she thinks the tape came loose again. Well long story short is she is afraid neither she nor her husband would be able to install and configure a wireless network so she sticks with the wired solution.

So the two of them (they both have laptops) have duck taped two very long ethernet cables to the back of their old Wireless N router and then duck-taped the other end to their laptops. They drag these things around the house I guess and at times the plug comes loose on one end or the other. When she calls it's usually because her husband isn't home and she can't reach the router on the shelf where he put it and she wants to know if we can get her working temporarily until he gets home.

One of my favorites though is back in about 1990 or so. Our company was starting to transition to individuals having their own computers on their desks and doing some of their own work vs. having an Admin do everything. I was working as a Trainer back then and was holding a WordPerfect for Windows course. We had just transitioned from a CPM based network where we ran a version of WordPerfect that did not use a mouse. It ran on old green screen monitors.

Well I started the course talking about what we were going to accomplish and as soon as I said "Pick up the mouse and point to ....... on the screen" one of the Vice Presidents literally picked up the mouse and put it on the monitor and started moving it around.

So I immediately made two changes I thought were necessary. We started holding personal classes for the "C" level guys in their own offices to reduce that embarrassment and we started opening the training center at lunch time for people to come in and play solitaire to improve their mouse skills. We certainly have some a long way in 30 years or so.

Not Motor or Pump

Piece of door gasket from when it was manufactured blocking the pump inlet. Actually two pieces.

I said, must have been made on Hang Over Monday!

Thanks for all the input and concerns.

Will wait and see if anything else happens.

I had a feeling something was obstructing the pump, or plugged up in the sump area....

hoping you paid attention to how it came apart......not a bad idea to check that area about once a year for anything like pits or glass that would have sunk to the bottom......

there are YouTube vids to gain access as well.....

Bob - I discovered it after waiting for a week for them to reply. Did it myself. Big Ashame!

Yougi - Right, but why should we have to do all that? I did not pay attention, I did it on my own. I am very mechanical inclined, and know who and what to look for. Should have done that first.

Steve glad it worked out that way the only bad thing is that you had a house full of company last weekend and you had to wash dishes by hand.
