UGH!!!
After 3 months of that machine (brand new) I gave it to my sister and replaced it with a Bosch. I had a Bosch in the past and had gotten spoiled ... that Kitchenaid did not have the ability to clean my Bob-Loads. My sister, on the other hand, pre-washes her dishes so she loves it! Thats my two cents worth! Cheers! Todd

Performance
Make sure the nylon bearings that the spray arms (upper and lower) ride on are in good shape. If not, it won't clean worth a darn.
We have a very similar machine and other than the nylon bearing replacement it has been a very good performer for nine years. You just can't compare the build quality to an older "real" KitchenAid though.

It is a shame that they look so robust. I had one for a couple of years and thought it was okay. Of course I am not a Bob loader by any means. I generally anticipate the next meal coming. If I think that there is not enough room to handle the dishes from the next meal coming, I will go ahead and run it. I don't like extra dirty dishes hanging around. So, my current Bosch is usually close to full but not packed in.

Malcolm, I do the same thing lol but for different reasons. #1 A Bear is usually concerned about subsequent food lol. #2 I have been known many a time to try and prepare the next meal around, "hmm, what can I make that will allow me to get all the utensils involved stuffed in and finally run the dishwasher" lol. I'm not too thrilled about lots of extra dishes hanging around too. When I dinner guests and know I won't be able to get it all in a load, I purposely shoo everyone out of my kitchen. Can't stand for other well-intentioned people to come along and hand wash all that's left. One, that what a dishwasher is for and two, I just don't feel anyone can handwash anything as well as a dishwasher.

Entertaining.
I love the 30 minute wash cycle on my Bosch for entertaining. As long as you don't mind hand toweling as you put them away. That is how bartenders do it, so its good enough for me. Plus, I can process 3 loads of dishes in the time it takes others to do one.

That's why I was thrilled to finally get a second Dishwasher a few years ago. At least one can be running and the other being filled as you go along.
It actually started with a delivery "mistake" by Sears.
After several weeks it was never reclaimed or questioned or summonnsed for, so I kept it.
It was a GE TallTub (plastic interior), supposed to go to the apt. above me-Hee Hee. They got the same Model delivered from Sears 5 weeks later.
I had previousely owned a GE TallTub when they first came out but with a stainless steel interior. For GE's, they washed quite well but that's because that system has a Direct Feed wash system-no spray tower.
I had that "mistake" for a year and a half and then gave it to my Sister and bought the Miele of my Dreams!
Or so I thought...that thing was gone after only 2 months-I HATED it!!!
-Washed ok-not as good as my Bosch.
-Quiet-but the Bosch that replaced it is quieter.
-A NIGHTMARE to load. That's why it went back.
So now, the 2 Bosch's match in interior design, racking system and washability.
The facades are different but that's no big deal.
Before the GE TAllTub I had a Kitchen Aid TallTub (models made AFTER the one you have pictured above), and I found it washed poorly so it was sent back after only 3 months.
Still though, even with 2 machines in one small kitchen, there are those times when I have dishes waiting to go in and both machines are running. (And I won't wash them by hand!)

Two of EVERYTHING
I always thought the Jed Clampett kitchen shown on the Beverly Hillbilies was a good idea. Two refrigerators, two stoves, two sinks, and two ovens. I have toyed with the idea of 2 dishwashers but never acted on it. I do have a washer/dryer upstairs and a second set downstairs to eliminate hauling laundry up/down the stairs. But I know owning two sets is small potatoes on this forum, lol.

Energy Cycle is Normal
According to the manual, the Normal cylce does a Prewash, Main Wash, purge and rinse(qualifying for Energy Saver).
The Light Wash does a Prewash, Main wash, and two after rinses. Just ran that cycle. It automatically heats the water in the final rinse. My water heater is set for 140 and it took 25 min to heat the final rinse water.

According to the 25 series manual, the Light China cycle does a pulse on/off for the dry cycle. Did not state that in the manual for the 24 series.

i picked up one very similiar
to it from a lady here in cinti for 20 bucks this summer. it was not working. only 4 years old she said. the pump seal had leaked already and ruined the motor bearing!
a new pump/motor assembly is at least 150 bucks and that's on e bay!
i cannot believe how cheaply these expensive dishwashers are made. 4 years! i have several kitchenaids that are 50 years old and still don't leak!
i am not a fan of kitchenaid these days at all. they don't even deserve the name!

My aunt has this machine
It was in her new "scale down" townhouse that she and my uncle moved into in 1997. She has never been crazy about it and she pre-rinses. She says it it hard to load and does not have a gret capacity. Her previous dishwasher was a top of the line whirlpool from 1983. Over the years I have had several friends who have had them also and none have been thrilled with them. I do think they have decent reliability.
