Laundry Stain Pre-treaters

Can anyone recommend a laundry pre-treater that WORKS? I use to use Spray and wash, Shout(till they changed)I just tried Zout laundry stain remover, and it works better, but not completely to my likes. Is there anything that removes old set-in stains?(oil,grease etc.)
Im willing to try something new, if it really does the job.

For fresh stains, I've been using Biz for about 9 years, very satisfied. For old set-in stains, the best I've heard is liquid Tide HE with bleach alternative and a modern front loader that heats the water to 158 degrees or higher.

I take care of my 88yr old mom. Her clothes almost always need pre-treated for food stains. I've tried Shout, Spray-n-wash, and several others with limited first time success. For the last year or so I've been using Goop Liquid Hand Cleaner with really good results.

It means ordering online, but Amway's Classic Aerosol stain pretreat works really well on grease-based stains. Haven't found one it can't remove. It's $8.99 a can, plus shipping. You don't have to join Amway or deal with their local sales reps.

I have been very happy using Biz for pretreating. Follow the instructions on the box to make a paste as described. This has worked wonders on stains for me.

Amway's Pre-Treaters (one for grease, other for protein stains) work great for me along with their all fabric bleach (soak overnight) and detergents. If you know someone that sells it, you can probably buy direct from them and not pay shipping, or very little shipping, or less than retail as I do.

The Tide Stain Out has worked surprisingly well for ground in dirt on a couple of occasions...not sure why they have three versions of it (liquid, powder, packs).

Good luck in finding Biz..its gone from my area. I am in love with the Tide Stain out packs. I also have been using the Tide pretreat spray that does an awesome job too. I also use the OxyClean MaxForce packs. I throw a Tide pack and a MaxForce pack into each load. Then I use Tide powder..I am liking the Tide Liquid with ActiLift but I only use that on occasion.

For Greasy Stains....

...try Fels Naptha bar soap. Grab a spray bottle and fill with water. Spritz the oily stains, rub the Fels Naptha in, and let set until you're ready to do a load. If it dries on there it won't hurt anything on typical fabric.

I have been having pretty good luck lately with Oxi-Clean Max force pre-treat. I have used both the spray and the gel.
Both are pretty good on grass stains, you can watch them bubble off the clothes. Both did pretty well on grease, but the spray left spaghetti sauce where I have not tried the gel on that kind of stain.

Greasy: Goop is best, or Dawn

Other food-based spots, grass stains: Zout or BioKleen BacOut spray

Dusty, dirty, or garden dirt: prewash or presoak with Biz

Blood: hydrogen peroxide

I've been using Persil Color Gel for all our pretreating. It has gotten out literally everything it could be expected to get out, smells good (and doesn't linger) and has caused exactly zero issues with fading / bleaching unlike Oxiclean Maxforce, which nearly ruined a set of our sheets. It'll even get out stuff that's been dried in and tough to get rid of like set in oil-on-cotton.

B & C Vacuum @ 613 W Yakima Avenue is listed on the Miele web site as carrying laundry detergents, which means they might have Persil Color Gel. Their phone # is (509) 453-8301... probably wouldn't hurt to call and ask. The only place locally I found that carried it was a mom & pop vacuum shop that sold Mieles.

I use Tide Stain-Release for pre-treat.

I don't need it as an in-wash booster because I use phosphated detergent, but for my needs, it does work well. Especially white deodorant stains on black shirts. Pour it on the stain and let it set overnight, launder, and it's all gone!

Tide Stain-Release is kind of on the expensive end. I wait for a good $3 off coupon when I get it.
