Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

I thought the same thing Peter about rollover....what are the mechanics behind it? Though i do like these washers. I would like to get the agitator version of the oasis w/ glass lid.

My theory is this: You know how the agitator has 3 triangle-shaped baffles raised off of the agitator? You know, the raised surfaces on the sides of the holed skirt? I think that as the wash plate rotates, the edge "scoops" and "pulls" the clothes into the center of the wash plate. Since all of the clothes are coming in the centre at once, and because of the slope of the skirt, the clothes are forced up though the centre and back down again where the cycle begins again.

They have exactly the same motors, and the same wash speeds; the difference in sound is the cameras, and the environment where it was filmed.

The machines sound exactly the same, I think thats its because there where clothes in front of the machine blocking the sound from the bottom, when I lean in to get a shot of the control panel you can hear it a lot louder.

I don't think at all that there is any more wear then in a traditional washer with a center post agitator. The plate doesn't have large fins to rub the clothes, just ridges that force the clothes upward.

I posted a embedded video of the Cabrio washing 7 pairs of jeans on "Heavy Duty" but that didn't work so here is the link. You can see that only the sheets and towels cycle uses the most water, and that after a few seconds the wash plate goes to a slower speed, unlike in sheets and towels where the speed stays the same, but the rotation shortens from 360degree's to about 200degrees.

did one of you guys upload this?

i forgot how i came across this (video) but i always thought an agitator is what made the clothes rollover. I guess i was wrong, im really learning some stuff here, um if i uploaded this link right we see how an agitator really doesnt matter even if the machine is overloaded. I thought the cabrio was crap but from watching it looks pretty good i was curious to see it wash i saw some videos on youtube (my favorite site for everything) i was surprised to see how much people uploaded washers thats how i found some and saw the other cabrio or "oasis" you guys say its the same. it looks it. anyways hope i uploaded this link right what kind of washer is it in the video? It kinda looks like the ge my grandmother and ex-girlfriend had is it?

sorry mr cabrio ;( for uploading your link im a little off today sorry really tired.

Question for Bobby

The wash plate in the bottom of the Cabrio is smoother than in the Calypso, which I thought would be hard on clothes.

Bobby, can you give us a bit of the cycle sequence for say, Sheets & Towels and then a lower water level cycle, please? I am curious about the spin after the wash water drains. Does it spin very fast? You said that it does not fill as full for the rinse in Sheets & Towels. Is there just one rinse? Does it only do the 1000 rpm spin after the rinse? Some of these new machines have funny cycles with less spinning. When machines are trying to rinse with less water, spinning out as much wash water as possible is very important for good rinsing. Thanks, Tom

to c'villewasherbo,

yeah it looks overloaded i found this video on youtube its not mine but it reminds me of my grandmas and exgirlfriends ge with the filter on top of the agitator. its called "norge" (the washer) where did that name come from?

Tom. Sheets & Towels works as follows:

2 second spray, immediate fill through center valve
water level reaches middle of wash plate then fills through detergent dispenser.

Water stops and wash plate makes a few rotations to measure resistance and to determine water level and wash plate speed

Water reaches desired level and wash action starts. Wash action starts off at a high-speed, and if needed the machine will slow down.

Wash action continues for about 15-20 minutes and does a neutral drain

Wash spin is at half speed and is only about 2-3 minutes long

Rinse fills through fabric softener and does not use the same water level, a lower level is used

Rinse is about 3 minutes and performs a neutral drain. Once it is completely drained, the tub slowly spins and fresh cold water is showered onto the clothes for about 10 revolutions.

Spin speed steps up to 1050 rpms and only lasts for the last 3-4 minutes of the cycle

Tub stops and wash is done!

Sheets and Towels is a lot different from all other cycles, which use less water, longer wash times and more direct inject catalyst cleaning action.

A little different in the Oasis...

This is with a small load and 2nd rinse:

2 second spray, like the Cabrio (warning for children playing inside)
lid locks

fill through main spray until tub floats (not always water in tub)

wash plate rotates checking tub position and resistance

fills for 30 more seconds, then fills through detergent dispenser

washer pauses, wash plate pulses to measure resistance, determines water level

fills to set water level, starts fast agitation, measures resistance

washer adapts F&P SmartDrive technology and adds water if required

agitation slows, and re-circ spray on for brief periods of time to filter lint

wash continues according to soil level set, with the re-circ spray running briefly from time to time

neutral drain, and cold shower for 2 revolutions

motor revs up to around 300 RPM for 3 minutes

spin stops, and another long cold shower for 10 revolutions

motor revs to 300 RPM for 3 minutes

spin stops, cold shower for 4 revolutions
motor revs motor revs to 300 RPM for 3 minutes

cold shower for 4 revolutions, then a 400 RPM spin for 5 minutes

softener dispenser flushes twice, then fills with cold water through softener dispenser and main spray

normal-speed wash action and neutral drain, brief pause to rinse out re-circ spray tube

motor slowly steps up to 1050 RPM, where the max RPM lasts only for 3 minutes

motor applies electronic braking, tub coasts to stop in about 30 seconds, pump removes last amounts of water in tob, the the cycle is done

I got Mom a Cabrio

I got my mom a Cabrio and had fun last weekend doing wash at her house.

I was very impressed with the washer and think it did an excellent job on all the cycles I tried.

Like was seen in the videos, it is very different than anything I have previously experienced.

What a fun machine. Love the full glass lid. Haven't figured out how to bypass the lid switch, yet.

Would like to have a light under the lid to light up the action. It is so cool!!!!

I am very temped to get one, myself, but space is too valuable, so will be making lots of trips to mom's with laundry!!!

After spending all that money on the Cabrio, I would kill my child if they ever did anything like that!
