Servicing
I am sure you can get yours serviced. My issue was different from yours. The wash tub bearings developed a squeak as the tub rotated (in less than 6 mo). A pretty minor squeak at first, but not to a dog's ear. Gradually, the squeak got louder and would come and go with conditions I could not determine. I contacted the store where I purchased the machine to schedule a service call. The service tech that came out said that LG would never cover the repair as warranty because the machine was still functioning. Even though the machine was well within the warranty period. I was told to call back when the machine stopped completing the cycle.
Imagine my confidence in the machines.
Not long after that, the dryer began to develop a rattle. Instead of trying for service again, I tore the machine down to the baseplate looking for the source of my troubles. I determined that the belt idler was bouncing around on the fulcrum mount causing the racket. It almost looked as if the idler arm was not the correct part for this dryer model. There was no spring washer or bushing missing based on the parts diagram. I was able to quiet the rattle somewhat by placing a rubber hose washer on the shaft of the mount before reassembly, but the noise never completely went away.
That is until I became fed up and sold them set on craigslist. Good riddance to bad rubbish, I say.
